My wife and I stayed 5 nights at La Casa di Amy (Amy's House) in june 2012. Rome is notoriously expensive for lodging in general, but Amy's House is a very good value for the money: varied breakfast, kind staff, and adequate and spacious (for european standards) rooms. The open framed lift shaft may scare some, but it works well.

To the average tourist, the location is very, very good: there are many restaurants and trattorias nearby (I personally recommend Trattoria Cecio, across the street), and we felt very safe while walking in the streets. In addition, it's just three blocks away from Termini station, which means easy access to two metro lines, a bus terminal, and trains to virtually anywhere in Italy. What more to ask for?

When in Rome, I would stay there again.

We stayed there in Nov 2011 for a few days. This is actually an apartment (apartments) with different rooms to rent. It is located close to Termini station and any kind of transportation. It is easy to find. There is no 24-hour reception though, only between certain hours during the day (normal working hours). The location is convenient for sightseeing, but a bit dodgy at night. The room is simple but nicely decorated, the bathroom is part of the room separated with sliding door. The room is not very sound proof though, you could hear almost everything.

My husband and I stayed at Casa Di Amy in late 2009, but I have such strong negative memories of our stay that I feel compelled to write a review.

Firstly, let me talk about the positives. It was reasonably priced, and in a good location near the train station. The end.

Now for the negatives...it was in a darkly lit building. The staff were not very friendly or helpful and frankly just seemed annoyed at the world. Despite the fact that I freaking hate bad customer service, I could have dealt with that...it was the bed that got me. I'm not sure how it is possible to make a bed harder than the floor, but they somehow managed to.

When I enquired about whether it was possible to make the bed softer, without saying a word the sad and indifferent lady pointed to the wardrobe. I can only assume she meant for us to make do with what was in there which, at the time, turned out to be a spare pillow. So I used the pillow to scream into, then punched it a few times before fashioning a bed on the floor. Seriously, this was more comfortable.

Despite my lack of sleep, I had my anger and disappointment to fuel me during the day. Just kidding - I didn't let it ruin a wonderful time in Rome, but I would never return to Casa Di Amy. Because I am a soft touch, I probably would have rated it good if I'd gotten any sleep during my stay, or any help to make it more comfortable.

But I didn't.

Room Tip: You would probably have a great stay here if you prefer a very hard bed and do not mind indifference...

Introducing myself, I am the owner and manager of the b & b "LA CASA DI AMY”
I turn to "not for me" review published by
TripAdvisor May 23, 2012 but dating back to 2009 date of the guest’s presence in my structure.
I get now after three years a review which frankly I do not know what weight to give.
It 's been a long time, a lot has changed and I no longer remember any of my guests and I regret this, but I can certainly say that I find it hard to imagine that you can ruin a vacation in Rome because of a mattress evidently just bought. (You know the mattress will soften with time)
I agree with the professionalism of all the criticisms that come from the guests, the same way as I accept the compliments, are part of my job but I can tell the gracious host to pay attention at the time of booking the following points:
1 - if we have trouble in sleeping and mattresses are soft better is to be specified at the time of booking
2 - if you book a b & b in historic area of Rome may happen to enter the halls of the buildings, that a cause of their architecture and history, not much light coming through the windows. Please see photographs of the site before deciding where to book.
3 – About the friendliness and professionalism of the staff it’s at disposal in tripAdvisor review of LA CASA DI AMY, for those who want to read, more than 300 judgments about, and I say not all, but most are positive.
Warmly
LUISA DE CHIARA TURCHIARUL

We spent there 6 nights; the place is very quiet, the room is exactly what you need for a Rome vacation (clean, big enough), the breakfast is great (divers and consistent), the staff very helpful. The location is perfect, close to the train station, walking distance to the highlights. We used the metro only for our visit to Vatican. Enjoy!

We only spent one night there and it was OK. It seems like a cosy hotel: almost like a apartment with rooms, and a kitchen. But the decor could be better. We chose not to have breakfast (to sleep in late), but the owner offered us a coffee as we left, and we could see that what they offered for breakfast looked very tasty, and fresh and varied.

A boutique B&B in nicely converted apartments that are excellently located either for walking to Rome's central attractions or catching metro or buses anywhere else in Rome from Termini, a couple of minutes walk away. We were very well looked after by the friendly and courteous Larry, who not only laid out an attractive and fulsome breakfast buffet punctually every morning but made up our room spotlessly while we were out.
