Great location, convenient to everywhere in Rome. very safe location. Cristina was most helpful in terms of offering advice on what to do when in Rome and very friendly and accomodating with excellent english. Excellent value for money compared to hotels in Rome. If all you want is a bed, shower and somewhere clean and safe, then this is perfect. You don't go to Rome to spend time in a hotel room. Modern rooms and you can come and go as you please. Rooms are air-conditioned. Cristina kept our luggage in the apartment on our last day as we has a late flight which was a great help. Breakfast consisted of crossiants and juice/coffee - nice light start to the day and was served in cafe downstairs. Would recommend to anyone I knew visiting Rome and would definetly return ourselves. Great memories of a great city. Thanks again Cristina

Thank you Cristina for our wonderful stay. It's a small hotel with just 4 rooms from memory. Stayed in a double bedroom with ensuite and even had our own terrace! super clean. super safe.

We had a brilliant 3-day stay here. Christina is the perfect host, we adored her! We had originally booked into another B&B but when we went to check in they said we had been moved to another site. We were a tad concerned, but we're SO GLAD because B&B Relax was way better than what we'd booked. New, clean, nicely decorated, fantastic back patio, voucher for a basic breakfast at cafe downstairs (pastry & coffee). Perfect location. 100% secure. We were delighted. Highly recommend!! (Thank you Christina for a great stay)

We (son and daughter-in-law) had a short trip to Romefrom Minneapolis early May 2012. I arrived one day ahead which has my rating 4 instead of 5. Christina was great and very accommodating. The door on the street is natural wood with carving. The only way to verify the location is correct is the name on the the buzzer, no other signs. The rooms are named based on the picture above the bed. There are only 5 rooms, all on prima piano (2nd floor) with a tiny elevator if needed. The hotel is very secure - the lock the entrance is a multi bolt lock. You are given a set of 4 keys when you check in - outside door, door to hotel, room door and safe.
Pros: The room was plain but very adequate, the bed was comfortable, the bathrooms had recently been redone and very nice to use, the bonus was the little patio to sit and enjoy the evening, there was a flat screen TV (no English channels), the location is perfect,-easy walk to termini (I am 70 and easily pulled my luggage to the hotel from the termini), many bus stops very close, the little coffee shops Christina uses for breakfast make great hot chocolate and coissants, the pizza shop 2 doors away is super and very reasonable for lunch. They also have great cookies.
Cons: Only one - you must arrange to meet Christina to let you in (she is not always on site) This was difficult for me, or anyone, that does not have a cell phone for Italy. I "borrowed" one from a very nice lady on the train. There is not a phone in the room and I was a little nervous being there alone because there was not way to notify anyone if I had any problem. Again, not an issse for someone with an Italian cell phone.
I would definitely stay there again and recommend it with the above issue.

Room Tip: I had the Trevi room, which had the patio.

We loved our 3-night stay here! Christine was very welcoming and we really liked our room (the end one). It was spacious and had an outdoor area (we didn’t use it though because it was Winter). Staying here comes with complimentary breakfast at the cafe downstairs (nothing too extravagent, pastry + coffee). I suggest getting a good map or instructions on how to get here, before you arrive in Rome. There are no signs, so we walked past the black door.

There were strikes on the first day we were here and the subway wasn’t operating. However, we managed to walk to places, and it was fine.

Calling this place a "bed and breakfast" is really stretching it. Not only was breakfast meagre, it was also late. If you wanted breakfast, you had to ask them and then sit around while they prepared it. I wouldn't go so far as to say "cook", as the only thing that didn't come directly from a packet was the coffee. There was only one hotplate, so you had to wait ages for the coffee, as they would have to make the coffee first and then heat up the milk. Also, the guy on duty wasn't up and ready with breakfast at 8am, he got up at about 8.15am and slowly started preparing it. The breakfast consists of tiny crispbread toasts from a plastic packet and jam or chocolate spread. That's it. I don't expect much, but some real fresh bread doesn't seem too much to ask. I don't know why they even bother to offer breakfast if they aren't going to do a good job.

On the plus side, the location is very good and there is an excellent cafe/bakery on the same block, where we went for breakfast on subsequent days. Also, the rooms are big and clean and the shared bathroom is relatively clean (could be cleaned a bit more often, as the shower leaks) and well-fitted, although a proper bathmat would have been more hygienic than the rug currently in use, and a hand towel would also be nice, so that you don't have to take your towel with you if you're just using the loo.

The towels were very thin and there was no where to hang them in the room, so they stayed wet and they weren't replaced unless you specifically asked.

Finally, the common bathroom is not situated with the rooms, but rather you have to walk through the reception area and the breakfast room/kitchen. This is not so far, but the staff often had friends hanging out in the reception area late at night and it's not so nice to be a female and have to walk past a group of guys in your nightgown when you need to use the loo. There are 3 rooms (plus the staff) sharing one bathroom, so the potential for waiting is high. It didn't really cause us too many problems, but I think the provision of another toilet or at least handbasin where you can brush your teeth would be good.

Overall, I think a little more attention to detail and a more professional attitude of the staff would help this place improve and be a good value place to stay.

  • Liked — location
  • Disliked — low quality of breakfast
  • Tips/Secrets — make sure you get a room with an ensuite, they're much nicer. Also don't bother with the breakfast go to the cafe just down the block.
