“Not a 4star experience”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

Not a bad stay and location, but pretty basic.

- The decor was dark, dated and didn't always look clean
- Our room did not have a bath, even though advertising for the hotel said every room was to have one
- WiFi was only available in the reception, and only half an hour was complimentary (most 3 star hotels offer free Wifi!)
- The staff, whilst there were some exceptions to the rule, were pretty unhelpful and unobliging, and at reception they couldn't offer us the loan of a UK plug adaptor or had any elastoplasts when asked for which is quite unacceptable.
- The roof bar was unavailable for our entire stay, as was the jacuzzi facility
- Breakfast was busy and all food looked at least a couple of days old

Room Tip: Ask for a room with windows - some of the rooms are completely windowless

Having read the very mixed reviews on trip advisor we were slightly anxious about our 3 night travelzoo stay at the welcome Piram hotel. However, I have to say we had a very very pleasant stay.

Staff were all helpful, hotel decor was nice (if slightly antique.) The only negative was breakfast- very basic, not very fresh and as previous reviewers have said - the 2 girls are run off their feet. I would advise against booking breakfast if you can as its average at best.

Now to the room- I would say we were VERY VERY lucky, as from what I can gather from other reviews, the size, quality and style of room can vary massively.
Before staying I decided to email the hotel asking for a balcony room ( as had heard some rooms are "interior"- ie not even any windows) The reply was extremely quick and we were promised a room with balcony. When walking up the street we saw one balcony on the hotel which was huge and we joked that must be our room......Upon arrival the receptionist said she could not guarantee our request as they were overbooked ( we later found out she was either joking with us or sussing us out to see if she liked us before granting our request.) However, when we got into the room to say we were pleasantly suprised was an understatement! The room was massive, beautifully decorated and seemed like a honeymoon suite or something similar. Double doors led to an extra hallway with en suite bathroom and then into a HUGE balcony! We later found out this is the ONLY room in hotel with balcony and was indeed the one we saw from the street....

Overall, I would definitely stay again as location is great, staff were helpful and the room was truly fantastic. However, like I say breakfast is poor and we were extremely lucky with our room by the sounds of things....

We stayed here for a 4 day 3 night stay and it was perfect for what we wanted. Good clean comfortable hotel, very obliging. It was my partners birthday and i emailed prior to our stay to organise a birthday cake and bottle of sparkling wine to be left in the room after our evening meal which they did and was a great surprise for her on our return to the room.
All i can say is that i would recommend the stay here for the accommodation cleanliness and the friendly helpfull staff especially wvladimir not sure of spelling sorry and also irina for dorting out the items prior to our visit.
Thanks again for a thouorghly enjoyable few days break

Clean room, clean sheets and towels. Good housekeeping. Good breakfast.
It ends there. The coffee at breakfast was difficult to come by, should really have a coffee machine. The girls are run off their feet. Seems there is little or no organisation at all.
The hotel have charged a payment to our credit card that was not owed (25 euros) after we had had a heated discussion with the 'very rude' receptionist.
The hotel bar closed at 10:30pm and when we asked if we could get a drink the receptionist just kept saying 'It's not my problem sir' and was not interested.I
We will not be using this hotel again!!!

Almost next to Termini, so location was good for getting into Rome from the airport and great for for walking 'downtown'. Room was fine and space ok for two persons - but a bit of noise from the traffic and hallway - much too hot 25C all night. When you walk in you fell like time stood still - old style (bit worn out) elegance however we liked the old elevator. If you can don't bother booking with breakfast included, since it is not worth it - mostly supermarked style sweet cakes and white toast - serving such coffee in Italy is a crime andd it took btw 10-20 minutes to get one if you were lucky to find a waiter to order from. But again location, location, location and there are plenty of good coffee bars around the hotel. Would we stay there again - well for the location and price yes.

Just returned from a 3 day break in Rome, staying at the hotel Piram on a bed and breakfast basis. We received a voucher for the first night for free dinner. Dinner? Ha ha we were given a very poor choice and settled for a pizza. We were also given vouchers for a free drink each which were served in the smallest wine glasses I have ever seen. We were also supposed to receive a voucher for 10 euros off the meal on the second night but that never materialised.
Breakfast.... There was plenty to choose from... Cereals, cakes, tinned fruit, yogurt, jams, croissants, bread to toast, half cooked bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes etc. although there was water, orange juice and grapefruit juice we almost had to plead for coffee.in fact we had usually finished our breakfast before any materialised after asking different waitresses.
The hotel bar was situated in a different restaurant in another part of the hotel and we had to walk through diners to get to the bar. The waiters in there didn't smile at all, as if they didn't want to serve us. There were tables at one end where we could sit with our drinks and a man played keyboards on 2 of the nights. However, on the last night, although music was advertised, there was a huge screen set up with Italian football showing all night and no music. Needless to say, we left and found another bar.
The room we had was tiny with a curtained off area with a clothes rail for hanging clothes and a sliding door to a shower room. However, the sheets on the bed were clean but the duvet on the top looked a bit dubious with no cover on. The towels were lovely and clean and changed after 2 days. Also the maid came in every day.
The view .... Overlooked a side street where the bins were stored!
Luckily we only used this hotel as a base to wash and sleep but I don't think we would use it again

Room Tip: Not really. We weren't too happy with our room but never saw any of the others

Good basic hotell in a central location. We had problems adjusting heating from our room and reception weren't able to sort either. Didn't cause a major problem as window could be opened but this meant it was noisy during the night.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms are probably quieter if you have to have your window open
