“Really nice and friendly”
Reviewed October 6, 2011

I was in Casa Navona on the first floor for three days with my mother and aunt and it was really a nice stay. First of all, the apartments are very well located so that you can walk to almost every highlight which belongs to a short Roma trip. The apartment is fantastically designed. One is not like in a hotel but more in a rented-apartment with nice furniture and very clean towels etc. You really notice that you are in the historical city through staying in this apartment.
We also used the pick-up service from the Leonardo Da Vinci airport which also worked perfectly. Beforehand, all details were cleared with Serena and everything with as planned without any problems. The enterprise does not misuse the difficult situation of tourists. For example, the air-condition did not work after our first night which was not so nice, since you can not sleep with open windows in such a central location in Rome. However, the staff tried to solve the problem and we got a refund as apologize. This was ethically very correct behaviour from the staff.
Do not expect a nice lobby, the entering of the building and the stairs do not look so nice. But the apartment is really amazing, so do not get scared of the entrance :)
All in all, I hope I will stay at some time again at Casa Navona !

We really enjoyed our 3-night stay in the top-floor apartment. (There are a lot of stairs to climb, as other reviewers note, but this was not a problem for us.) The location of the apartments is amazing -- in the very heart of Rome, steps from Piazza Navona and within walking distance of the Pantheon, Colosseum, Vatican, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, etc. Although there are no metro stops nearby, there is a taxi stand across the street and many close bus stops (the tabacchi stand across the street sells bus/metro tickets). The apartment itself was spacious and comfortable, with good character, a separate kitchenette, small walk-in closet, and reliable WiFi for 3 euro per day. The bathroom was a good size, although the shower was typically small and provided only about 10 minutes of hot water at a time. We arrived later than expected because of some characteristically Italian public transportation woes, but Serena was very accommodating and rearranged her schedule to meet us. She took the time to explain all of the features of the apartment and let us know that she was available by text or phone if we had questions or problems. She also provided us with a sheet listing her restaurant recommendations, which we used with much success. For the money, the apartment can't be beat. We'd definitely consider staying at Casa Navona during our next trip to Rome!

Travelling with a two-year old, having an apartment makes it all so much easier. And this was an excellent choice for us. A real find. Comfortable, and a perfect location, as all the other reviewers suggest. Main drawbacks were the stairs, but that wasn't so bad (upon hearing we were travelling with an infant, Serena arranged for us to get the second floor.) Also, AC was a bit marginal (but Serena said it was under repairs, so hopefully it'll be better for others.)

But the benefits well outweighed any drawbacks. Reasonable price, excellent location (steps to Navona) and a fully equipped apartment with kitchen, internet (small fee), satellite TV (free), and a place to relax in Rome. It felt like we lived there. Loved it, and would definitely consider it on future visits.

Room Tip: Book directly via their website for the best price.

We stayed at Casa Navona in June of 2011. We stayed in the top apartment on the 4th floor (1 apt per floor). Having been to Rome before, I was comfortable selecting a location for my family to stay and did not need "hotel" type amenities. The property is located just outside the north end of Piazza Navona. There is no elevator, so our 4 story haul up and down could be a bit of a workout - if you can't handle stairs, you may not be happy here. The apartment itself was perfectly adequate for us - a small living room with pullout couch and TV. A small kitchenette and refrigerator. A small bathroom with very small shower (the curse of all Europe - no one there seems to be able to build an adequate shower...). And a bedroom with bed for 2 and small walk-in closet. We slept four comfortably, there was no problem with noise from outside, everything worked as it was supposed to. If you are looking for large, luxurious rooms and bathrooms, you may want to skip Italy... If you are happy with experiencing the Roman apartment living experience, Casa Navona is a good choice. Keep in mind also that this is NOT a staffed hotel with a front desk or anything - it is a private 4-unit apartment building.
Location - excellent - you can walk to St. Peters and Vatican in 10-15 minutes, The Forum in 15-20 minutes, Spanish Steps in 15 minutes, Trevi Fountain in 7 minutes, Pantheon in 5 minutes. There is a cab stand right across the street, there was always a cab there when we needed one - gets you to the Colosseum in just minutes. Little market just 3 minute walk away, plenty of restaurants and cafes within yards of building.
Staff - EXCELLENT - 2 of our bags went missing during our flight to Rome, and Serena stayed in contact with the airport for us and arranged delivery at a local storefront which stayed open after hours on a Saturday night to receive our luggage - big thanks! She also arranged airport pickup for us, was there within 60 seconds to show us in, provided restaurant and shopping suggestions, etc. She was quickly reachable by cell phone and text message when we needed her.

Room Tip: try to reserve a room on the lower floors to avoid climbing stairs..

Nothing fancy, no elevator, spacious, good air conditioning, decent bathroom. Serena was very easy to work with. Location was amazing. We were right at the entrance to PLazza Navona and could walk to the Fountain of Trevi, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Camp di Fiori and the Vatican (20 mins).

Nothing fancy--there's no lobby, it's not elegant, no swimming pool or elevator. But it was a spacious room, nice couch, powerful air conditioning and the bathroom was certainly big enough. In fact, the bathroom looked recently re-modeled and the shower had a nice door that made it comfortable and usable. OK, so there was a fee for the wireless Internet access, but it wasn't too expensive and it worked just fine. But enough about the room itself ...

The location was just AMAZING. Open the heavy front door and you step out onto a street that's just a block from Piazza Navona! From here, you're right in the middle of Rome ... whether you're going to the Vatican to the West, Spanish Steps and Trevi to the NE, the Coliseum and Forum to the SE, or the Pantheon just around the corner. But honestly, we loved Piazza Navona the best. Trevi was packed shoulder-to-shoulder with throngs of tourists, the Steps were swarmed with futbol fans gearing up for the Palermo game ... but Navona was just a delight. Not too crowded, there was always time for a stroll through the stalls of artists selling paintings, and down past the street performers trying their best to catch the attention of passersby, and then off into side streets where some of the nicest moderately-priced restaurants were located. And on the way home--I mean back to the apartment--there were plenty of places to pick up a gelato. This was a GREAT choice for our stay in Rome.

Serena's service was outstanding & the location perfect for a family. Stayed in early Oct 2010 with my wife and 7 year-old son in the top apartment. Perfect location where you can walk straight out into Rome and to most locations, yet can close the double-glazed windows and sleep soundly at night. Great with a young child as in the middle of Rome yet many quiet streets around to walk and explore. Serena's service was fantastic - even when I said we would be there at 3pm and ended up being delayed to 6pm: she just rearranged her day and kept smiling. Will definitely stay here again for our next visit: won't even bother looking for anywhere else.
