“So Good We Don't Want to Share it So It's Still Available When We Return”
Reviewed March 22, 2010

In short, this was a fantastic place to stay. Want the long story? Read on.

We stayed in the flowers room with the terrace. It was absolutely perfect. Spotlessly clean, quiet, and great service.

Marco met us as we had arranged and showed us around, reviewed a map with us, and was available when we needed him. This is exactly what we wanted. Clean, quiet accomodations that made us feel a bit like we lived in Roma. No one hovering over us or all the services of a hotel that we would never use.

This apartment is about a 5 minute walk from Termini. We never felt unsafe. We walked to the Colosseum and to the metro stops and station. Termini has a great grocery store that made for wonderful picnic style dinners (downstairs on the apartment side of the station). Breakfast was light, but more than adequate--our son is still trying to figure out how to get those packaged croissants at home! Yogurt, blood orange juice, milk, and coffee or tea. Jam and crackers. It was just fine. We usually grabbed espresso at the station before boarding our transportation.

Marco was extremely helpful with tips on how to navigate Rome. His prices are more than fair. The rooms are all large (we got to peek in while the cleaner was there) and very clean. There is an elevator in the building, but you have to be able to go up at least one flight of steps (might be two, I can't remember) in order to access it.

Area restaurants cater to the backpackers and tourists. I would avoid--we didn't try, but Marco assured us they were not Roman and so we weren't interested. We loved Trattoria der Pallero South of the Pantheon. Well worth the trouble to find it!

His website has pictures that are completely accurate. We actually thought the real thing was even better. You won't be disappointed if you want clean, quiet accomodations for a great price in a convenient location in lovely Rome! Just don't reserve it when we want to be there!

Marco, thank you. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Rome because of you.

The owner, Marco, went above and beyone and was extremely helpful before, during, and after our trip to Rome. Our room had a kitchenette with yogurts, pastries, etc. There was a nice patio off the bedroom that we enjoyed.

Stayed 3 nights at aroma b&b
There is no phone, no internet access at this location. Beds are comfortable, but the sheets and towels looks a little old and worn.
There is virtually no service. Check in with Marco and pay for the stay with cash, cleaning lady show up daily. To check out, just leave the keys in the room. Pretty much all self serve.
Room has lots of mosquitoes since the windows remains open after the cleaning lady left.
location is good at the better part near the train station. Room is quiet even with the windows open.

My wife and I and another couple booked aRoma on friends recommendation, and we were not disappointed. To find it on arrival, look for the Hotel Rome building, and go to the second floor. The apartments are quite unique in decor and layout, and provide all you need in Rome, at a very competitive price. The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. Having kitchen facilities is a bonus for self-catering, as the only negative is the very basic breakfast provisions. aRoma is only a 5 minute walk to the main train station as well as the hop-on hop-off bus pickup points. Although we did not try any, there are 3 restaurants in close proximity to the apartments. Our travel friends had the apartment with the patio, and this assisted in clothes drying as well as a quiet space to sit and read. We thoroughly recommend these apartments for your stay in Rome.

Decent price for Rome and nice to have a few breakfast making facilities (table, chairs, kettle, fridge etc). The breakfast was pretty lack-luster - packet crisp bread, butter, jam and fruit juice.
Handy for the metro and pretty close to Termini but there's nothing much going on in the surrounding area.
Pretty good for what we were after - budget hotel for a couple of nights in Rome but if I were to return to Rome, I'd probably head for somewhere a bit closer to the action to save on the late night walks home.

We really loved Aroma B&B. After traveling around Italy for 10 days, Rome was our last stop before heading home. Aroma B&B was the best place that we stayed and Marco was very helpful. The rooms are very cool and very unique..much nicer than some of the other places we stayed. After we returned home, I realized that I had lost my camera somewhere at the end of my trip. I emailed Marco and he checked the B&B and found my camera. He packed my camera in a box and shipped it to my home...now that's service! He was a great host and we will definitely plan on staying at Aroma B&B again the next time we visit Rome.

We stayed with Marco at aRoma B&B twice during October at each end of a cruise. Having a 2 1/2 yr old with us, it was important to get somewhere safe, quiet and clean - and aRoma didn't let us down either time.

Initially it's not that easy to find (it's located with a whole bunch of other hotels in the one complex block) but the location is fantastic. Two blocks from the main train station, across the street from the best pizza we've tasted in Rome and incredibly quiet! We did have inconsiderate guests in the next room during the second stay, but you can hardly blame the B&B for that! The ceiling is incredible and the whole thing is like winning the lottery upon arrival, especially given the dodgy nature of some other establishments in the same price range that we have stayed in!

Marco provides a lovely continental breakfast and lovely clean accomodation. It would be a bit hot during the summer but the aircon takes care of that. If you sleep with the windows open (it's on the 2nd floor) then it would also be a bit noisy but there really isnt any need to do this. The walls are a bit thin (but given the ambiance and age of the building, this is also to be expected) and as long as the other guests remember this, then everything is absolutely perfect.

Please be aware that Marco doesn't have credit card facilities and requires cash or travellers cheques. Don't get caught out like we did! Marco was very good though and we sorted it all out with a minimum of stress.

Absolutely worth the money - and then some! Just don't tell too many people!!!! Let it be our little secret....!

  • Liked — Location, cleanliness and ambiance
  • Disliked — Inconsiderate family in the next room who forgot about the thin walls and shared hallway!
