We stayed here for a few days and grew to like it more as time passed. I must admit I didn't feel comfortable the first time I walked there from the station, but if you take a route further from the train line it is much nicer. It is a good location if you like walking, and there are great facilities within the block - post office, hairdresser, mini chemist, supermarket, take away, cafe etc. If you like to wander, the area ranges from grubby and graffiti-covered to lovely surburbia to shopping strips and cinemas. The Colosseum isn't too far either.
Our room (103) was comfortable and also air-conditioned. I was a bit disappointed with the tiny travel hairdryer but overall things worked well. As with many places, the shower could do with a spring clean but it was okay. There was a bit of a plumbing issue while we were there but it was attended to quickly and every effort was made to ensure we weren't inconvenienced too much. Breakfast was good - fresh bread and packaged pastry. We supplemented it with fruit and yogurt we bought ourselves down the road and kept in the fridge. My main gripe was that we had to call when we arrived and then had to pay cash for the room. Overall it was good value (for Rome) and good for the independent traveller. Not so good for meeting people or getting to know the host or for single female travellers. I would consider it again.
