“Problem with the breakfast”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Spent 5 nights in January 2013
The breakfast is extremely light, just one small industrial cookie, thus avoid booking the room including the breakfast because you will have to find outside something to eat. They have even no hot water for the tea, nothing to drink except industrial tea of coffee (in a plastic glass) from a machine with coins, nothing fresh.

Room Tip: there is not even a small room for the breakfast, thus you have to take it in your bedroom which is...

Dear Madame,

The typical Italian breakfast is sweet. Is made of an hot beverage, like cappuccino, tea or coffee, with something sweet to eat as croissants, toast with butter, jam or Nutella, and a juice.
This is a "Continental Breakfast". Eggs? Ham? Sausages? Bacon? Sorry but in Italy are considered dinner foods. If you love those foods we suggest to book an Italian hotel that serve "American Breakfast". It means 4 or 5 stars hotel. Check could be different but you'll have your favourite foods for breakfast.

Regards

We had a great time at Hotel Domus Tiberina. Rome is really hot in July so I suggest to book your stay on September or October. Hotel is located in a charming square just in front of Tiberina Island. Rooms are clean and cool. WiFi Internet access is free and fast. Concierge service is available 24hrs. We were informed about Rome tourist tax. Staff is polite and fluent in several languages. Magic Rome in Trastevere!!!

A lot of arguing for getting the price booking agent had confirmed to us. Hotel clerk insisted adding taxes etc on the confirmed price that already included taxes. Air condition work very poorly at first. Not until next day, another clerk understood how we suffered in the heath and cleaned the filter (made wonders)

The confirmed "breakfast buffé" was a coffe and some sweet pastry in the café next to the hotel.

Size of the room took the word "tiny" to a new level. Have not seen such a tiny room not even in Tokyo or Hong Kong.
The shower cubicle is so small so it is really difficult to was hair, need to bend arms, and the cubicle become too narrow then.

Had expected much more for the price we paid.
Cannot see any reason at all to stay in this hotel. Location s super- but there are so many other hotels in the Trastevere area

Dear guest,

I perfectly remember you and your quite husband because during Euro 2012 football match Italy-Germany you asked to check your air conditioner. About extra taxes, this is not correct because nothing is hidden. Your travel agent didn,t inform you that all visitors have to pay Rome Tourist tax. Sorry but this is clear, shown in Rome Municipality website and in all rooms, so please no excuses.
I work in a 2 stars hotel and I perfectly know that with bigger rooms and more services, we could obtain 4 or 5 stars. So if you compare our hotel with a 4 stars hotel in Tokyo or Hong Kong is normal a big difference. In any case we say thanks to Tripadvisor staff because they removed a second message too similar to your comment. Less is More

My family and I LOVED Hotel Domus Tiburina! We stayed a full week around Capo D'Anno and could not have been happier. Location was ideal! Best part of ROME! Room was clean and cozy - and provided all necessary ammenities. Prima collazione (breakfast) was perfect- small, Italian style - just like we like it, and the nice lady making our cappuccino's in the morning was lovely. We had a great room - it slept 3 - and we were never cramped. Our luggage fit right below our window sill and we slept soundly through every night as the street was quiet! Torniamo subito!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms appear to be bigger!

The hotel is in a great location in the heart of Trastevere which is great for places to eat or have a drink in the evenings.
However the double room we stayed in was tiny, barely room to place our bags in there with the bed! The bathroom was also very small. I'm 6ft1 and only just managed to be able to squeeze into the shower cubicle let alone move once i was in there! There is virtually no sound proofing so I woke several times in the night hearing other people coming back to their rooms.

Breakfast is ok, typically Italian - great coffee and pastries but not much else on offer. Staff are friendly.

We always respect our guests opinions. Please let me explain my point. We welcome more than 5000 people every year in our small hotel. It doesn't exist a perfect service in a luxury 5 stars hotel and it doesn'exist a perfectly guest too. Sometime guest that smoke for 5 days into a no smoking room, leave a bad complain for air conditioning. Sometime guest that has stolen several towels write a complain for a broken light (bulb). Sometime guest that hug me before leaving, write a complain and does not recomend the hotel to anyone. But this is our job and we always say thanks to everyone

Very cute small cosy hotel in the heart of Trastevere that makes the main places of Rome accessible on foot. The staff of the hotel was very friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and very warm. I liked specially the antique style of the hotel creating the atmosphere of the eternal city. The unique minus, in my opinion, was quite poor breakfast, otherwise everything was perfect. P.S. You can have breakfast outside with delicious italian cornetto and capuccino!

My single room was tiny. Not wide enough to stretch two arms out. The bed was similar small, a bit like a camp stretcher. Worst was located behind reception with no sound proofing. Difficult to sleep hearing every movement and greeting in reception. Don't know what other rooms are like but avoid the ground floor and don't get excited over breakfast.
