“Truly a Home away from Home!”
Reviewed June 16, 2014

We are a family of four, including two grown up children and had chosen Hotel Golden based on Trip Advisor reviews as well as their responsiveness to queries and the extremely reasonable pricing! Giuseppe, in particular, was very detailed in all his replies and even took the trouble of answering my numerous queries at 2:30 in the morning! Due to our dates being fixed, we were not able to get the room of our choice but decided to go with Giuseppe's suggestion of the two rooms next to the Reception (101 & 102) and we were not disappointed!

What makes Hotel Golden stand out is the friendliness and warmth - you feel like you're interacting with your own family member and not with a stranger! The tone of the various emails we had exchanged before arriving there had given us a level of comfort and that continued. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Maria Teresa and she, along with Marco and Giuseppe were our advisors for the next couple of days - where to go, how to go, where to have dinner, where was the best place for the ladies to shop, everything! Thank you, you guys simply rock! It was an honor to meet Papa Mario as well! I think what we really loved about the entire family is the way they took that extra bit of care in all that they did - nothing was too small or insignificant for them. We were in a mood to try different cuisines for dinner and each day, they would come up with a suggestion that fit our mood to a T! I particularly liked the fact that they also wanted subsequent feedback on our experiences each day - not too many places bother to do that. One afternoon, we'd come back to the Hotel after a long walk and my wife wanted an Espresso. We asked Marco where the nearest place was (since they do not have a running kitchen) and guess what? He insisted that his mother would make it for us and have it sent to the room. Where would you get this kind of homely attention - it won our hearts!

And now I'd like to make a special mention of two other family members and the Breakfast - simply awesome! A big thank you from the four of us to Mamma Teresa and Alina for the trouble they took every morning to lay out such a sumptuous spread! Every day, there was something new to try out, apart from the regular Croissants, Breads, Cold Cuts, French Toast, Frittatas, Bacon, Juices, Fruits, Cereals, Tea, Coffee etc etc - Alina would always take the trouble of explaining what that special dish was while Mama Teresa would stand in the background with her wonderful smile that made everyone feel special! Our kids are not much of breakfast persons but the fact that they were there on two mornings out of three speaks volumes about the spread!

The rooms were clean and value for money with very effective air-conditioning and the bathrooms, though slightly small, were extremely functional with all necessary toiletries, The Hotel is located just next to the Villa Borghese and its gardens and is a reasonable walk away from the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. In fact, on our last afternoon, we took a leisurely walk back from the Pantheon, exploring the numerous shops on the way, down Via Del Corso.

Rome was our first stop on our Italian holiday and the pleasurable experience at Hotel Golden left a positive impression in our minds for the rest of the trip! We will definitely be back and no prizes for guessing where we will be staying! Thank you Loria family, we hope to see you in India sometime soon, so we can have a chance to reciprocate the hospitality!

We stayed at the Hotel Golden for a week; travelling with our friends. Each couple had a superior double room. We were in room 111 - it was lovely.
We certainly agree with all the other reviews - the room was cleaned daily with real care and attention. We were made to feel at home in the breakfast room, with the wonderful breakfasts made by Mamma Teresa and Alina.
Special thanks to Marco and Giuseppe who looked after us so well while we were waiting for our late flight home; making us comfortable in the breakfast room and serving us refreshments which were most welcome before our journey home.
Thank you all for your wonderful hospitality.

What a wonderful place to spend time in Rome! Two friends and I stayed at the Hotel Golden after an Adriatic cruise. It felt like being welcomed as part of the family. They treat you as their own with the warmest welcome ever. From the moment we arrived, Giuseppe was right there answering all questions, giving directions, making suggestions and reservations...all with a smile. Our concerns about sharing a triple room were immediately vanished when we opened the door. It was more than ample, very clean, with a sizeable bathroom with all the amenities. Mamma Teresa makes breakfast every morning for the guests. What an assortment of food. Mangia! And all made with love... The hotel is perfectly situated near the gardens of Villa Borghese and Via Veneto. The Metro and bus line are very close to the hotel. Walking to all of the great sights in Rome was no problem, if you prefer. This hotel is a hidden gem. You will be very glad with this choice. Grazie to Papa Mario, Mamma Teresa, Giuseppe, Maria Teresa, Marco and Alina for making us feel like family!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay in the Hotel Golden. The hotel is family run and they take pride in their business and treat you like one of their own. They were very helpful with directions, and any questions we had about Rome. When we returned from sightseeing, they wanted to hear about our day. The room was very clean and our bathroom was a good size for European hotels. The breakfast was delicious. Besides the normal breads, cold cuts, cereals and yogurts, there was frittatas, french toast and I even heard another guest special order scrambled eggs. The hotel is about 15 mins from the Spanish steps, the closest metro stop and around the corner from the US Embassy in a quiet part of Rome. My husband and I don't mind walking so the distance to Rome's top sights was not a problem for us, but unless you figure out the bus system or take a taxi, plan on walking a lot. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Golden again.

Our family of 4 (two older children) stayed in the quad room at Hotel Golden and totally enjoyed ourselves. The beds were comfortable, air conditioning worked great, and the location is really ideal (Via Vendeto 2 blocks away). We especially liked the wonderful breakfasts each morning. They treat you like family and make you feel comfortable right away. It was our first time visiting Roma and will stay again at Hotel Golden if we ever get a chance to return.

Recently back from a five night stay at Hotel Golden. Have stayed in many hotels throughout Europe the past 5 years and I have never experienced the level of personalized service and genuine warmth that we received from this family run hotel.

Rome was our last stop on a month long journey through Italy with my 81 year old father. Unfortunately, he had injured his knee a day before our arrival which severely limited his mobility. We were both depressed as Rome was to be the big finish to our trip.

Upon arrival we were greeted by Guiseppe. I told him about our situation and he assured me not to worry as we are "home" now. He told me all about the area and how to get to some of the major tourist sights. He marked this in great detail on the included map. We were introduced to other family members including his kind father Mario and his mother, Teresa, who would be preparing a home cooked breakfast each morning. The room was cozy and clean with little details that inspired further confidence like a small bowl of hard candies and drawer knobs that had little floral designs on them. TV was a little odd to turn on but given instructions cleared that up and it worked fine with a handful of English language options.

The next morning Guiseppe asked me how my father was doing. I told him he was still pretty immobile and that I might look into renting a wheelchair or something. As I was coming back from breakfast Guiseppe and his brother, Marco, had found a place close by where we could rent a chair. They had all the details, prices, how to get there, what to expect. Never even asked, they took the initiative to help out.

We had lots of special requests during our stay and always got thoughtful answers. Directions on moving about with the wheelchair, calling cabs for us, how to order carryout from nearby restaurants, various recommendations. Saw this personalized service with other guests as well. A note on the wheelchair: Rome is not set up well for this kind of travel, however, it did allow us to get out. The hotel is also not large enough for wheelchair access but my father was able to hobble down to the front door.

A special mention must be made of breakfast. We had some threadbare breakfast spreads at other hotels in Italy during our travels. This one is as advertised. Homemade, varied, fresh and served with a smile by Teresa and Alina. Omlette slices, all manner of sweets, Italian rice balls and the usual were all well represented.

The hotel location is good, located on a quiet street near the action of Via Veneto. Public transport options such as a metro station and electric bus #116 are also close. Watch out for the cabs as the rates double in the early evening. I suggest San Marco restaurant nearby for tasty pizza and pasta in a modern high energy atmosphere. Hotel Golden, really nice people and a really nice hotel.

This hotel is located a few meters form Via Veneto, close to US Embassy and in an elegant area.
It is a two-story "Palazzo". There isn't a big Reception or a big breakfast lounge neither facilities, but rooms are very comfortable, clean, quiet and full of amenities. Breakfast is big, varied and tasty: fruits, espresso, capuchino, bakery, pastries, cheeses, omelettes, cereals, cold cuts, yogurt, juices, jams, etc.
On the second floor there are 3 adjoining rooms with infividual bathrooms each very suitable for a large family or a group of friends. In the hotel surroundings there are all kinds of restaurants which are high quality. My favourite is Sardegna, but you can choose any.
Golden Rome is a family business. Everybody who works there are very helpful when it comes to eating well, shopping, sightseeing, and so on. They are very cozy and friendly, I will always remember Giuseppe and Alina.

Room Tip: Any is OK. If you like big rooms those are on the second floor
