This is a clean, well-run hotel that is conveniently located. The family that runs it is friendly and helpful. Giuseppe, the son, was wonderful and went out of his way to be of assistance to us. His restaurant recommendations and his travel advice were excellent. His sister (Maria Theresa, if I recall correctly) greeted us upon arrival and immediately highlighted a number of key routes on a street map provided by the hotel. Their mother provided a simple carry-along breakfast for us on our last morning, because we were leaving before the dining room even opened. All in all, we had a lovely experience and would stay here again.

Room Tip: Our room was small but adequate for our needs. If you need a larger space, you should request it at...

This was a wonderful hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Rome, yet everything you wanted to see was within walking distance. Our room was nice and quiet. Everything was very clean. The Loria family that runs this hotel is very helpful and knows the ins and outs of Rome. Breakfast was wonderful, too. It was a great way to start the day off right. Thank you Loria family for helping to make our stay in Rome a memorable on. :-)

We stayed at Hotel Golden for three nights in mid-November and we stayed in the Family Suite. It was perfect for myself, my husband, our 20 month old and our 5 month old. There were two bedrooms with a king size bed in each and a central area with a dining table. The bathroom was spacious and the shower had changing colorful lights that my son loved. The hotel staff was very accommodating and had milk for my son when we ran out and the breakfast was delicious. The location was close to a supermarket and restaurants. There was also a wine / champagne store, Peluso's, that you can sit at and enjoy your purchase. There is a metro stop nearby, but we love to walk and found that the main attractions (Spanish Steps, etc.) were within a 20 minute walk. Also, there is a huge park across the street for the kids to play. Oh, and the hotel set up a pick up for us and it was 50 euro including the tip, which was well worth it for us.

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in October and can wholeheartedly endorse the glowing comments of previous reviewers about the hotel, its staff and the location. Nothing is too much trouble for the helpful staff including their useful suggestions for how to avoid queues at the major tourist attractions . One excellent travel tip from Giuseppe was to use the small electrically powered Urbano bus #116 for travel to and through the pedestrian streets of old Rome - a low cost do-it-yourself tour of most of the major sights with the convenience of hop on- hop off that allowed some surprising discoveries. Thank you Giuseppe.

I had only the experience of a one-night stay in Venice to compare, but we loved the Hotel Golden. The bedroom was comparatively large, and the bathroom was huge with a nice stall shower that worked very nicely. Everything was clean and comfortable. Lighting is adequate, though not state of the art. The TV screen was about the size of a small laptop, but you don't come to Rome to watch TV. The hospitality was terrific, and it seemed as though there was an inexhaustible supply of family members to handle every contingency. The hotel is on the second floor, and a door man helped us decipher the lift to carry us and our luggage up there Maria Teresa was on duty when we arrived. She checked us in and helpfully produced a map of Rome and marked in yellow paths to the various places we wanted to go, along with writing down bus numbers and adding the locations of bus stops to the maps. When we had some difficulty getting on the WiFi, she called in brother Giuseppe who solved that problem. Then Teresa took care of getting us reservations at the Galleria Borghese for the next morning - a very nice 10-15 minute walk through Villa Borghese - and recommended a couple restaurants close by. La Pomodorino, located about 200 yards from the hotel, served pizza that rivaled Da Michele in Napoli as the best pizza I've ever had.

We got Roma Passes and used the bus system extensively. The hotel is very well located for easy access to most of the must-see sites.

Giuseppe took over from Teresa in late afternoon, and was just as friendly and helpful as Maria Teresa had been.

Brother Marco was on duty when we came out the next morning and was there until 1:00 a.m., spelled by Maria Teresa several times for meals. Breakfast is prepared by Mama Teresa and served from 7:30-10:00. It's included in the price of the room - which was a very reasonable 247 Euro total for 2 nights - and was as good as I've ever had in a free breakfast type of arrangement.

Marco arranged for our transportation to the airport the next morning. It was a company rather than a taxi, and the vehicle was a spacious Fiat with a polite and able driver who navigated the crazy traffic of Rome without having his nose constantly in a smartphone. [The previous day the taxi driver who took us to the Vatican seemed to be texting, or at least reading emails, constantly.] Even though we left at around 8:00 a.m. in rush hour traffic, the trip to the airport took only about 40 minutes and cost 50 Euro.

Papa Mario checked us out before we left for the airport, and we left feeling certain that if we ever return to Rome we will look first at the Golden for accommodations.

Room Tip: We were in Room 104 - pretty close to the front desk, and thus potentially subject to noise. We wer...
