My boyfriend and i stayed at this hotel for 6 nights. It was perfect, the rooms are huge and cleaned everyday they also have air conditioning which is perfect for at night.
It is very close to the metro and to the main termini station from which you can go anywhere. It's in a perfect location to see all the main sights and its closeness to the colloseum and the trevi fountain means you can spends late nights sitting outside these attractions with a ten minute walk home.
The hotel garden where breakfast is served it lovely, it is open to guests at any time and it is particularly enjoyable in th evenings where we sat with a few drinks.
To reach the hotel from the airport (campiano) we took to the terravision bus (4 euro each, tickets can be bought from the airport) to the termini station. We then took the metro a line (direction anagnina - you buy the metro tickets from the newspaper stands outside the station at a price of 1 euro) and get off at 'manzoni' the hotel is then just one minutes walk away.
Definately reccomend this hotel to everyone - and will definately return!

I took my daughter to this loverly B & B for her 18th birthday, for 3 nights and 4 great days, and we had a terrific time. we were met by the B & B's Shuttle service and taken to Gioia, The room was very clean and spaciaous with a loverly veiw of the garden. It has a small T.V , on - suite bathroom, Breakfast was the usuall conitinetal breakfast but as much as you wanted. It took us about 10 - 15 mins walk to the Collosseum along the main road near the B & B, then about another 10 min walk to the Emmaual Monument, the Patheon and Trivi Fountain were about another 10 to 15 minute walk from here, so in all the B & B was quiet well located for us as we walked everywhere. The young man who checked us in to our room was really helpfull considering his english was limited but we managed to understand in the end, the lady who sorts out the breakfast in the mornings was also extremly friendly and her english limited as well, but again taking time to talk slower and gestures we eventually understood each other, as the rooms are directly off reception and main door, people coming in, in the evening can be quiet loud if you wish to go to bed early, but other than that we can not complain it was a brillient, the lady even let us keep our bags behind reception while we went out for our last day and when we came back they couldnt get us a taxi for the airport because of a problem so the young man we saw on the day we arrived drove us to to airport himself, we would definently go here again i couldnt ask for a better service. My daughter and I found the Gioia a loverly place to stay with loverly helpfull people. BRILLIENT

On arrival at the bed and breakfast we were greeted outside to be told that there was a problem with the hot water and we were being moved to somewhere else. We expected another bed and breakfast but we got put in a residential block10 minutes away. This was very noisey, very small, no hot water, they just left us to it in this tiny room, we tried to contact the gioia hotel and we there we eventually seen them after four days the bed and breakfast was full of customers and there appeared to be nothing wrong with the water. My only conclusion was that they had over booked and moved us. The accomadation was poor and spoilt the holiday. The way we were left was terrible and we were there for 6 days and they didnt change the towels once. We went for breakfast on the fourth day at the bed and breakfast and this was nothing to write home about, coffee, tea and bread. It was upsetting to go through this as this bed and breakfast was not cheap. Stay away from this bed and breakfast they have no care for you as customers.

As others have noted, this B&B can be a bit difficult to locate. The only sign on the street is a tiny "Gioa B&B" on the buzzer list at number 20 (see photo). I am pretty sure the review that says this is a brothel walked into the wrong place, because this seemed to be a proper family friendly place. There were no obvious computers in the lobby and no four poster beds. The neighborhood is very quiet and I was very comfortable walking alone at night (which I assure you is not always true).

Gioa B&B is a great value for the money given that it is in Roma center. It is a block or two away from Manzoni metro stop and we were able to walk home from the Colosseo area comfortably when we didn't want to wait for the late night bus service. One thing that surprised me was the metro stops at 9pm, though both the line A and B night buses stop at the Manzoni station so it isn't inconvenient, I just had to learn where to catch the A and B bus at Central Termini.

Our room was large with marble floors, a comfortable bed, a nice bathroom and a small balcony overlooking the patio garden, which is delightful. The mother keeps the place sparkling clean.

Phillip, the son, speaks excellent English and provided good guidance on where to go and how to get there. The mother speaks limited English, however there are translation dictionaries handy at the front desk.

The breakfast was OK with coffee, warm milk, cereal and packaged pastries. We got tired of it after a day or so and started bringing in our own. We were allowed to use the kitchen for lunch and dinner which helped keep costs down. There are two good size supermarkets within a few blocks - in the opposite direction from the metro.

Noise does carry between the rooms. We did not notice this until a rather loud family checked into the next room. We did not hear the previous family at all.

I think the best part was sitting in the garden during the day while taking a breather between seeing all the sights of Roma.

I have just spent a week in this lovely B&B with my Girlfriend. We loved it, the rooms are excellent. We were overlooking the garden where you have breakfast, which again is above and beyond what we were expecting for £40 a night. The metro is literally 1 minutes walk away and has just been re-opened so is nice and clean.

I would happily spend another week here, and would recommend this B&B to any of my friends and family!

excellent!

It was great to stay at the Gioia, the garden is wonderful before and after long walks in the city (it is a 14 minutes walk to the Colosseum). The breakfast is nice, the room and the bathroom is clean. We liked the Russian lady working there, too. So I suggest it to everybody.

Maybe this is as good as it gets for Eu 110/night in Rome, for a family of 4. But it certainly wasn't in a good neighbourhood, graffiti and dog droppings on the sidewalks. I wouldn't feel safe walking alone here at night. But on the upside, there was police presence on the same block. The neighbourhood was quiet, but maybe a bit too quiet. Even the main streets are not well lit.

There is a parkade 2 blocks away, but we didn't use it. The subway is 2 blocks away, but the station was being renovated while we were there, so we had to walk an additional 6 blocks to the next station. Advertised on their website is a cheap shuttle service to the airport--but the owners didn't seem to know about it, but it could be our language problems (our lack of Italian, and their lack of English). We did however get a private taxi to the airport for Eu 50, which seemed the norm.

It's about a 20 minute walk to the Coliseum, and abit longer to other attractions, so it's abit out of the way.

The room is clean and well-kept, but basic. There is air-con that works almost too well. The breakfast is served in a nice garden area, but is basic and doesn't vary.
