Cannot praise this Hotel highly enough the staff were excellent, very kind, very helpful.
the room was clean & bright the bathroom was. Only downer was Wi-Fi kept losing signal & couldn't reconnect for a few minutes, but that is the only negative. The continental breakfast was good plenty of variety, probably could do with reviewing the toast facility, as the current toaster is slow and could some morning build up a queue. The location was great & central for the Spanish Steps & Trevi Fountain. Plenty of shops roundabout also great variety of café/restaurants within walking distance.

First of all: a review like this typically fixes in on problems, but let it be said that in the end, we enjoyed our stay (although we would look for another hotel be next time).

The LOCATION of the hotel is great, just off the Spanish steps (picking freely, I‘d stay even closer to the historical center, but Cecil is still a short walk away from the center).

The quadruple ROOM had enough space for four people; this is not a design hotel, but the room had a light and well-kept interior. I put a bag on top of a cupboard, that was a mistake, I got at least a years' worth of thick dust when retrieving it, otherwise, cleaning was OK. But the keys constantly stopped working, rather annoying to have to have it fixed all the time.
WIFI is free, luckily, as it was almost unusable in our room. Sometimes available close to the floor, pretty good in the hallway outside, neither perfect for answering emails...

SERVICE was great, always smiling and helpful, could hardly be better.

But then there's the BREAKFAST. As Norwegians visiting Rome for the sixth time, we know not to expect too much, but this was still sadly disappointing. In the country that "invented Parma", you'd expect at least something resembling ham, or cheese, or whatever. But here it's sweets, cakes and sugar all around. Trying to resort to eggs, we found them boiled to a color of green so far thought impossible by science. The coffee hadn't heard of Italy, and the juice would be usable in chemical warfare. Afraid to say it competes for the worst hotel breakfast ever.

Dear customer,
we remember your very nice family. We are quite surprised by your comment, as we we try our best to make our breakfast pleasant. But Italian breakfast is not as big as a lunch. Everyone is always content with our cappuccinos.
If with 'centre' you mean the Roman Forum, then it's one thing. But we assure you that our hotel is in the very centre of Rome. Your compatriot, the writer Ibsen, stayed here for several years.

Best regards

Great location in the middle of best shopping and most important tourist attractions. The staff were very kind and helpful. The breakfast has limited choices and time need to be reviewed to be more convenient for the customer.

We stayed here in early August and booked a triple room through LateRooms.com. Hotel was easy to find from Barberini Metro station (Spanish steps station is just as close) On arrival room was not made up for 3 but this was quickly sorted out by the hotel staff so not a problem. Room was a great size, bathroom was lovely. Airconditioning was quiet enough to leave on all night and was needed as it was very hot all day (38 in shade) and stayed in the 20's at night.
Breakfast was fine, continental with lots of 'sweet' items but also had cereals and toast etc with fruit juice, tea coffee. Only 18 seats in breakfast room but we didn't have to wait for a seat any morning.
The staff were all very helpful and all spoke english.
The hotel is about 10 mins walk from Trevi Fountain, 5 mins from Spanish Steps and about 15/20 from Piazza Navona so very central and easy to get to all main sights.Plenty of places to eat in the area as well.
This is definitely a hotel that we would stay at again.

The Cecil is located centrally to most of Romes top attractions, the staff are exceptionally helpful and the breakfast substantial. If, like us, you aimed for standard accommodation concentrating on location and cleanliness then the Cecil fits the bill. We had a recently refurbished bathroom but a shoebox room with the bed being a mattress on a raised platform. One had to step over our suitcases to move about the room. Notwithstanding I am sure there were more substantial rooms and I would recommend a viewing of your intended room prior to acceptance of the key. Dispite the size of the room we stayed I have fond memories of our stay.

Room Tip: Check the room first.

Dear Guest,
We read carefully your answer and we understoodt which was the room you stayed in. Our architect built the room considering our Japanese guests, and, in fact, our guests from Asia really love it. Bathroom inludes also colours in the shower and the bed is almost on ground level, with some steps on the side. We understand the problems it may create for guests from other countries, and we are sorry you couldn't stay in the standard ones. If you had shown us this problem, we would be very glad to change the room. We thank you anyway for your response and we hope to see you again in the next future.
Regards.

I chose Cecil basically for its location, unbeatable to reach everywhere in Rome either walking or by the easy- to- reach public transport. First good tip: The online reservation worked fine and I got what I have booked, what is not very common in Italy. Once there, we found a kind and very supportive staff. The rooms ( two, one double and one triple ) were comfortable, of an unusual good size for the rate. Breakfast is also very good and complete. On the need-to-improve side: maids did the cleaning in such a fast way that they probably forgot to sweep the floor.......
Very good price/quality ratio, certainly to be recommended.
