“Super friendly !!! Great Location !!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

Just returnned from our trip to Rome spent 9 nights at Hotel Solis . Super Friendly !!! Great location !!! Within walking distance to many sites & Great resturants & Cafes . Room was small but adequate , clean & quiet despite the busy street it is on ( via cavour ) All ammenities in room replenished daily . Getting around very easy my husband & I walked mostly, but cabs & metro easily available & fast . The front desk staff all very helpful with special thanks to Mirko for coffee & conversation in the early morning before our all day trip to pompeii . Breakfast lady I wish I could remember her name very friendly . I highly reccomend this Hotel .

I would recommend the Hotel Solis to any tourist wanting a good hotel near to the sights. This was a trip to celebrate my wife's birthday and the hotel staff could not do enough for us and thank you so much Diego for the upgrade, all the staff were very attentive and informative. The hotel is a good 3* standard rooms with air con & kept clean. Each room has european plug points (so take an adapter), a TV with in english - CNN / BBC world news / music channels. Solis provided a continental style breakfast ie.Cereal, juice, coffee ham, cheese, eggs, toast and selection of jam / honey etc there was a nice lady serving great coffee and although a small breakfast area there was a relaxing atmosphere. The Solis is a 15 min walk from the Roma termini and a 5 min walk to the Coliseum Metro station, tourist information centre & Vittorio Palace / museo. We are no spring chickens & we managed to walk to all the main sites incl. Coliseum, Forum, Circo Missimo, Trevi, Spanish steps - You will do enough walking so a good central location is essential !!! If we return to Rome we would definitely return to the Solis.

Room Tip: odd number rooms are away from the main road and have a small balcony

My husband and I stayed at the hotel solis for 4 nights mid September.

We stayed in room 105 right next to the stairs, which put me off at first, but we rarely heard people passing. It's a small room, but nothing too dissimilar to any other budget central city hotel.

The room was clean with a balcony looking onto the central courtyard. On the other side of the courtyard were some private flats. It's surreal seeing people go about normal daily life while your on holiday.

The bathroom was an ok size, but the shower was tiny, being spoilt at home we really noticed the difference with a small shower here.

The bed and pillow were very hard and we looked forward to our own bed at the end of the trip. We were only provided with one pillow each, but were soon brought some more up when we asked at reception.

The room had a very tall wardrobe and safe, however it wasn't secured to the wall, so defeated the point slightly. There was a small window in the room which didn't have a curtain. However as the sun didn't quiet reach inside the courtyard in the early mornings it didn't wake me up. There were only 2 English channels (CNN and bbc) which was frustrating as I like to have something on whilst getting ready etc...

Breakfast was ok, pretty standard (not sure why so many reviews rant and rave over it?!?) with rolls, some pastries and cereal. The ham was vile (processed) and cheese pretty flavourless. The breakfast room is small, however if guests left once they've finished, rather than stay and plan their day it would make the hostess life a bit easier. The toilet by the breakfast room didn't lock properly however it was easier for us to pop back to our room.

The receptionist were helpful with our questions and provided a good map.

Overall a good hotel for the price you pay.

We could not have picked a better hotel location - just round the corner from the colloseum and Piazza Venezia. As this is a three star hotel we was not expecting much however this hotel exceeded our expectations. Our room was on the large side very clean, bed comfy and quiet. Our air conditioning worked and was used throughout our stay. The breakfast was as expected continental buffet cheese, egg ham bread cereal pastries etccc. The hotel had a proper rustic italian charm and the staff were friendly and helpful. We would definately return and recommend this hotel

Room Tip: room 109 was quiet and on the large side !

We stayed here for 2 nights in early August. The man at the front desk was very friendly and carried our bags up to our room. We were on the 3rd floor, but there was only elevator access to the 2nd. The room was small but clean. It's only a short walk to the Coliseum. It also has free Wi-Fi and free breakfast. It was definitely worth the price for the location alone.

Hotel has excellent location, so close to the Colloseum. Breakfast very good, although breakfast room small, this was not an issue. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean and a good standard. My room was a little on the small side but it did not matter, it was clean and bathroom a good size. With a tv and minibar in the room and daily replenishment of toiletries you couldn't ask for more. Price is very reasonable. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

It was our second stay at Solis hotel already. First of all we like the location - it's absolutely central, just round the corner of Forum Romanum and Colosseum. Second: the rooms are clean, big enough (well, not huge, but you don't want to spend the day in the room, do you?), and have really good air conditioning (we went there in August!). The bathrooms are nice and well equipped (bathtub or shower, big stone washbasin, toilet, bidet). Everything you need is there, and it's clean. The service is really perfect, all people were very friendly. And the best: SUPER BREAKFAST with everything you want: ham, cheese, eggs, juices, different sorts of coffee, different rolls, croissants, pain chocolat, toast, different kinds of cereals, jam, honey, nutella, and of everything as much as you want! The breakfast room is a bit small, but okay. In 2007 everything was very good, that's why we took the same hotel again. But this year the breakfast was even better! The hotel is situated at a quite busy street (Via Cavour), but the windows are so good, that it is very silent in the room (and our room was at the front towards the street, but no problem!). - At checkout I wanted to ask if they can store our luggage during the day, but the man was quicker, he asked me! I mean, that's good service, isn't it?
If we ever go to Rome again, we don't even have to think about a hotel. It will be Solis in any case!

Room Tip: Attention: they have three different hotels in Rome. I am only talking about the one in Via Cavour...
