Near Fontana Di Trevi. It is very big but hidden between small streets. As you can see it is not finished - both from inside and outside. But it makes this church even more interesting. Try to imagine, how it would be splendid with the dome and ornaments of roof ...

S. Ignazio di Loyola is rated very high on Tripadvisor and so we finally visited it with friends recently in Rome for the first time as the third church we took them to (on the way to the Pantheon which is close). It is indeed a unique, large church that may introduce you to illusionary ceiling and dome paintings (it is not the best at this technique, but impressive nonetheless). It is impressive on size, scope and style, and the ceiling does pull off looking like it is much higher than in reality; yet the people figures only partially come across as intended. the enclosed picture does not capture its beauty, but you can get the idea. Enjoy!

I had an Italian host, which was good, or else I would not have guessed that the church's domed roof was actually painted to *look* like a dome. Very ornate interior.

A wonderfully decorated church - with a puzzle in the ceiling! A little bit hard to find but worth the effort

This is a lovely church in Rome. The ceiling is beyond words. It is so realistic and so convincing that try as I might, I could not envision the "real" ceiling that actually is far lower than Pozzo's trompe l'oeil masterpiece makes it appear. The ceiling alone is worth a visit to this church even though the rest of it is beautiful. There is no charge and an easy place to stop at while visiting other Roman sights.
