The hotel is small and personal. Rooms are smallish but just what you would expect in a city centre location. All spotlessly clean.
Location is excellent. It is 5mins walk from the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Close to underground Metro station but all attractions are walking distance. In August was very hot so we opted for Hop on hop off bus one day which is a great way to view the city.
The owner Alberta was extremely helpful giving a map and advice on transport, tickets etc. When we left my daughter left her medical bracelet behind ......Alberta was kind enough to tell us and then post it to us.
Iwould return to this hotel if in Rome again.

Room Tip: There are two larger rooms at the front of the property but often kept for families.

The Hotel Paba is a great value and the owner who runs the front desk is most helpful. It was great to be down the street from the Coloseum. I will go back.

Alberta made the stay for us. She was very attentive and served us breakfast in our room when we called. Excellent location just steps from the Colosseum and very quiet and clean and we were not sorry to stay there 8 days. We would stay there again.

It is a small hotel on the second floor but you should not judge by its size. It is very clean and in the very heart of Rome. You have an easy access to Colosseum and Forum and other sites like Spanish Steps are just a ride away. The bus stop and subway is within 2 and 7 mins walking distance. The owner, Ms. Alberta is a truly lovely person and takes good care of her guests. She also serves a great breakfast right into your room. Congratulations Ms. Alberta!

My fiancée and I stayed at the Hotel Paba for 6 nights and were delighted to have come across such a great hotel.

When we arrived we were greeted by a very pleasant owner, Alberta, whom will look after you for your entire stay - offering to carry your heavy suitcases (of course we didn't accept), booking your taxis and transfers, giving you advice about the area and bringing you breakfast every morning. She gives you that warm, caring feeling, like you're staying with family. She gave us a map and highlighted key areas which are advisable to visit. She will also give you directions to anywhere you would like to go to and gives you access to a plethora of guidebooks through the door to the right of the reception desk.

The hotel is in a safe area and literally five minutes away from the Colosseum and Roman Forum, very central to Rome and easy to get to everywhere from it. There is a local convenience store opposite which you can get water and food from, though there is a small alley way to the left of the shop opposite which has a grocer on it and sells very nice fresh fruit. The restaurants nearby are very nice too, so if you don't have time to go further a field, it is perfect for restaurants. If you are there for more than a few days, and you get a bit tired of the carbohydrate based Italian food =P, you might want to try the Chinese opposite. They serve really nice food and is very good value for money, I'd personally recommend the Duck in sweet and sour sauce =).

Whilst there we stayed in two different rooms, one which was to the rear of the hotel and the other which faced out on to Via Cavour. The reason for the change was because a family needed to occupy the room which we were in originally. This was no problem as Alberta even offered to transfer everything for us, but as it was our first night and she informed us the day before, everything was still packed.

The first room, "The Family Room", was larger than required with a small separate room for a third or, if you also use the roll-out bed, fourth person to stay in. The en-suite is attached to this side room and is equipped with a shower, toilet, bidet, mirror, stool, hair dryer, essential toiletries, towels, flannels and two pairs of slippers. The pressure of the shower was very good
and very welcome after a long day walking around the city. The towels and flannels were very nice and clean, as was the entire bathroom. Both the main and side room have an air conditioning unit in them and windows with curtains, voiles and shutters on them. So no noise could be heard from outside.

The second room, "Honeymoon", was the same size as the first without the side room. As previously stated, this room faced onto Via Cavour, which is a main road connecting the Termini to the Roman Forum, though don't let this dissuade you as the windows and shutters keep the noise out very well. We would advise shutting the shutters throughout the day as the sun will shine in if not and you won't be treated to a nice cold room after a hot day, though the air conditioning does its job very quickly anyway.

Both rooms are well equipped and have Sky HD (Satellite Television) with the ability to change the language to English on most channels, an LCD TV, a mini-bar fridge, air conditioning, large beds, dressing tables/desks, luggage storage, double wardrobes, blankets, a selection of firm and soft pillows, a safe, breakfast table, bedside drawers and beside lamps.

In the morning, just simply call reception and moments later hear a little tap at the door, it's Alberta with a quaint little breakfast. There is a choice of tea/coffee/cappuccino etc., with orange juice and typical sweet Italian breakfast breads and jams. We found the sweetness a bit sickly for the morning, so we bought fruit every night for breakfast the following day and just ate the toast or bread rolls with our fruit, then wrapped the sweet food up for snacks throughout the day.

As a side note, after searching many hotels, we realised that star ratings seemed to be irrelevant. We have read many bad reviews about hotels with varying star ratings and locations across Rome and were initially quite concerned about going. Reading about many three, four and five star hotels where the staff were unhelpful, rude, overbooked rooms and even alleged to have stolen from the room. We had originally booked into a four star hotel but two days before we were due to fly out read more reviews and found that the area was unsafe and people had been subjected to muggings. Hence we cancelled and searched aimlessly until we came across Hotel Paba, in the heart of Rome. So please don't discount this hotel just because it is a two star, in my opinion it is far from that, it made our holiday extra special.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are nice. There are two at the front which have balconies, just call or e-mail Alb...

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Paba on our honeymoon. As mentioned in the title, the rooms are spotlessly clean. The location is quite ideal - just right around the corner from the Colosseum and down the street from the Roman Forum. The hotel is on a busy street, but the room was very quiet with the windows shut. Breakfast is brought to the room whenever you are ready, which was very convenient. Alberta is a wonderful host, recommending restaurants and sites that are not as commonly visited in Rome. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend Hotel Paba as a great hotel near ancient Rome!
