“Good Value - Great Location”
Reviewed February 27, 2014

Like any city its location - location - location where your hotel is concerned and Rome is no different. La Fenice is a small hotel, on a side street off the busy Via Del Tritone, which basically is mid way between The Spanish Steps and The Trevi Fountain. Nearby are shops, restaurants, Bus routes and a Metro station just six minutes walk away.

The room was small, spotlessly clean with air con, widescreen tv and free WiFi. You will also arrive to find your mini bar stocked with cans of beer, soft drinks, peanuts and water and it's all free and is replenished every day.

Breakfast was part of the rate and is served in the rooftop breakfast room, with plenty on offer of the continental variety as well as super coffees and fresh croissants, what more could you want.

You'll find the staff at La Fenice friendly and helpful and it makes a big difference if you try to use some Italian as well, it's also fun!

No moaning please about the small lift and the need for some minor redecoration, this is an unpretentious hotel and is great value for money.

Just come back home from a four night stay here. It may be small and quirky but the friendly staff, wifi and inclusive minibar make this great value for money! Very clean and a good location too! I would stay here again.

I booked this hotel from reading numerous reviews from tripadvisor. I wanted a hotel that would be central and walking distance to all of the main attractions. The location was spot on. Literally a five minute walk to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain and about a 15/20 minute walk to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. The Vatican was probably the furthest and took us about 30/45 minute to walk but all was completely doable. There is also a metro a couple blocks away if walking isn't an option. The staff were all so kind and extremely helpful. This hotel was also very affordable especially for the location. I would definitely stay here again!

just spent 5 nights at this lovely little hotel. Clean and excellent position. Located in quiet street - half way between Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps so can't complain about location. Probably needs a little TLC to décor if being picky. Beds made daily and small mini bar topped up for drink if needed in room. This consisted of could of options on soft drinks and a beer + nuts and packet of biscuits. Breakfast was limited but adequate because I am not a big breakfast eater! Cute little roof top area although weather not great when we were there so didn't get full advantage but can imagine good when weather nice. The building is a narrow 5 floor hotel with small 2-4 person lift. During stay they did have a problem with lift - not a problem for us but if someone who couldn't manage the steps staying could have been a problem - stay did apologise for this and it was sorted very quickly.

Room Tip: ask for large double room. We paid same price for two double rooms - 4 adults staying. One room wa...

Let's start by saying traveling with 6 people on a 10 day trip around Italy isn't easy! Finding somewhere that everyone wants to stay isn't easy either! This hotel was a great value. Everyone could agree on that! The location, perfect! We walked to the train easily (5 minutes) and went to The Vatican one day and the Collessium the next. We walked back from the Collessium which was long, but we saw TONS of sites! The map they give you at check in is very useful and the ladies at the desk were helpful in directing us! We at some declicious food while in Rome and this hotel was the perfect central location to what everyone wanted to do! The rooms are small.... but again, who goes to Rome to sit in their room?? Two other people we were traveling with were in a double bed room and it was even smaller than our one bed room. Stick with the one bed! The breakfast was good and was in a cute little room on the roof top. We enjoyed sitting on the roof top with the wine we bought while in town and hanging out. It was very peaceful! You can tell it is a small hotel because everything is small... but it was nice! Perfect stay in Rome!

Room Tip: Stay in a room with ONE bed. They are small but not a small as the two bed rooms!

we were recommended this hotel by a family member who has previously stayed there a few times... the staff were very helpful - particularly Francesca. A perfect base for sightseeing, literally 5 mins walk from Trevi Fountain or to Barberini Metro. The roof terrace is lovely for breakfast (ask for a cappuccino and they are happy to do that for you, plus fresh home made ricotta cake) and evening drinks (free wine/prosecco/water is a lovely touch). Great local restaurants - Hosteria Sofia just round the corner is a must... Car service booked from hotel is friendly and professional. Can't wait to go back!

A small very well presented hotel in a quiet area yet only 5 mins from the fountain and steps. All Staff were excellent and recommended great restaurants and the local Jazz club(Gregory's) which is a must for any Jazz fan or cocktail fan! The desk staff were knowledgeable on the areas to visit and were very friendly. Rooms were a good size and very clean, the only complaint was that in our room on the 4th floor (top) the shower was a little weak and slightly strange layout. The complimentary evening drinks were very welcome. Roof top although small was absolutely fantastic place to relax, a real treat. Breakfast was a good quality buffet with excellent fresh coffee. Free wi-fi worked really well and was reliable and Sky TV was a plus.
