“Unfriendly staff and in the middle of nowhere!”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

The hotel is about 20 Euros in a taxi to get in and out of the city centre depending on traffic, the hotel does put on a free bus to the nearest Metro station but it only seats 8 people and does not go every hour so be quick! It is in the middle of nowhere! Staff were very unhelpful and were not forthcoming with information and always looked very uninterested. The restaurant is expensive but not up to much, the breakfast is chaos, only seats about 50, the tables are for 6 so you usually have to share one if you go as a couple, everyone comes down at once and there is not enough seats. The breakfast consists of tea/coffee, cold ham, cheese, cereal or danish pastries, not worth the hassle! The pool area is ok and the rooms are basic and a bit run down although they are kept clean. This is not a 4 star hotel!!!

Room Tip: Some rooms have a balcony but find another hotel!

I recently took a group of university students to Rome and stayed at the Quality Hotel Rouge et Noir. The hotel itself was fine. Many of our students liked it. The rooms were clean and adequate. The service was also adequate. The hotel itself is quite a ways from the city center. The best way to get there is with public transit. When we arrived, however, there was a transit strike going on and the only way to get to the hotel was with the taxi. This was an experience. Our cab driver had to call the hotel to get directions! Others in our group who rode in other taxis were charged four times the rate! Of course this wasn't the fault of the hotel itself, but does suggest a potential problem one might encounter getting to the hotel. The breakfast in the hotel restaurant was complimentary and good. When some of us ate dinner in the restaurant the service was poor and the food was mediocre. There are restaurants close by. A desk clerk recommended a pizzeria that was a couple of minutes away--which was really good. You can only get WiFi in the lobby area. The quality of the WiFi was marginal. The lobby tended to be quite noisy which made it difficult to Skype. When I called my wife from the lobby all she could, hear was the lobby noise and thought it sounded like I was in an auditorium. Overall, my stay at the Quality Hotel Rouge et Noir was not bad. The hotel itself was adequate. The location and WiFi were not the best.

This is a very cheap hotel...that is the only thing I could say...you get what you pay for. I read the reviews on Trip Advisor and I am very disappointed. The hotel was terrible, hard beds, terrible towels, tacky furniture, terrible location. The restaurant, as you are in the middle of an industrial center, is terrible, expensive, poor service and poor food. If Trip Advisor doesn't get a better rating form, then I will not believe in their reviews. I know people have different standards, but I think people need to be honest.

went during weekend-ok place. Lots of group tourists. Free wifi in the lobby area.
The surrounding is actually quite ok as there is places for dinner if you don't wanna go to far-but Saturday night was a nightmare as a night club nearby kept me awake until the dawn came...horrible.

Stayed here 6 days. Felt like we were in a 3rd world country. No A/C upon check in. Waited hours for it to be fixed. No remote in room. Paint peeling from walls. Dirty walls. Housekeeping horrible. Corridor lights not working. Shabby furniture. 3 Euro fee to use the pool. Wifi only in hotel lobby. Bus does not go to city center - it goes only to Tiburtina Station. The bus itself was sweltering hot and nasty. No bus service between Noon and 4pm. Hotel is MILES from any attractions and our taxi expenses were very high as a result. It is not 3 miles from the center of Rome. It is about 20 Euro from hotel to Rome City center. Only 2 channels of English TV were CNN and BBC News. TV was old and went from color to b&w frequently. The lobby area was nice enough. The staff was not very friendly. We had to ask for things several times before they would address issues. Dirty carpeting in room. No handle on bathroom door. Trash in the parking area. Vending had some water and coke on first day, but was empty (and warm) throughout our stay. Breakfast is a joke. Served 7-11 it consists of croissants, 3 kinds of cereal, thinly sliced ham, cheese, bread. Please do not give this hotel your business. But if you do, do not take the train from the airport to Tiburtina. It is not a straight shot. Take the train directly to Termini station, then switch to the Metro blue line (in the same station - look for the red sign with the "M" on it). Get off at Tiburtina Station and take a taxi. Stay closer to Termini Station if you can. The area around Barbarini station on the red line has excellent hotels, Metro and bus connections. We also liked the area around Ottaviano Station on the red line near the Vatican.

Room Tip: Just find another hotel to stay at.

Well wit good photographer you can do miracles... Place is definitely not 4 star hotel (should be some2/3 stars). Location is very unpleasant (we were lucky cause we had a car and good GPS). Rooms are small and the furniture very shabby (but not shabby chic). Smell in hotel was not pleasant at all, and outside they definitely have a problem with drainage. Breakfast is another horrible story. Very small offer (one cheese, one kind of ham, eggs and aged croisants). Definitely some thing I will never repeat
