“we just love it”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

My wife and I just love this place. the staff is so friendly and helpful. My wife lost all of her documents and the staff helped us as if we were family!!! they took us to the embassy and police dept, comforted us and did all they could to make our vacation great despite the loss of the passport.
the hotel is right in the city center, on beautiful Via Nazionale, close to the Quirinale, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Venezia, Piazza Repubblica. the rooms are spotless, the buffet breakfast is so much better than what you would find in other 3 or 4 star hotels. best of all...it is included in the room rate.

We noticed that few reviews on trip advisor are not that nice....I would like to stress that this a beautiful 3 star hotel, not a crappy 5 star!!! Possibly the best value you could find in Rome.

absolutely recommended

The location is not bad, but I am sure that for the same prize you can get a better Hotel with a better location. The main problem I had, is that I had to work and the wifi signal that was advertised only worked in the reception, which was really uncomfortable.
Another problem was that even though there was a sign on my door DO NOT DISTURB cleaning staff would wake me up every morning knocking on my door asking if they could clean the room.
The Hotel is a little old, and it has not been renovated in quite a while.
Overall my stay was not that bad, and staff was really friendly but I think this Hotel is overpriced.

We actually stayed at this hotel in June of 2010 and would stay again in a heartbeat! Great location, breakfast and staff. Charming entrance from Via Nazionale, but our room was facing the side street, right above the restaurant and gelato shop. We stayed in a family room that was fantastic! Lots of room for two adults and our two adult daughters. The hotel was very convenient to so many sites and we loved having the side exit. The breakfast was simple, but delicious. Price was great and would definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: The family room on the side street was great for us. No problem with noise and convenient to get to...

I always stay at this hotel when visiting Rome.
Hotel location is unparalleled, breakfast is included and it's good! SUPER CLEAN. nice rooms, quiet despite being in the very heart of Rome. Free Wifi, free cable TV (SKY).
Staff is amazing. they are so so so friendly and do anything to make the stay as pleasant as possible.
Overall, the best hotel I have ever stayed at.
Of course you can find more stunning 5 star hotels but they are much more expensive and the atmosphere is cold.
If you go to Rome for business or leisure, alone or with family, Hotel Gea is the place to stay.

This is a nice family owned hotel! They have newly renovated rooms and our triple room was spacious & clean (with a REAL 3rd bed - not lame sofa bed or roll-in)!! Price is super reasonable & in a awesome location - 10 mins from Roma Termini, 3 minutes from metro & close to every important sights you want to go in Rome! Sweet! It is also located in Via Nazionale - a busy shopping street & although close to Roma Termini, not a tad bit sleazy or scary!!

Can be quite hard to find as it doesn't have a big facade like most hotels but quite hidden!! Here's a guide - First you have to look for a big wooden door (which is lock when late & you have to buzz in), then you walk through a path to a Gate (which is also lock when late & you have to buss in) and you will be in a beautiful courtyard with a fountain!! Through the door on your left, up two flights of stairs & there's the reception! For those with big luggage, first go up to reception & ask for key to use the elevator so you don't have to haul your luggage up the stairs!

However, one thing I do hope the hotel can improve in is their housekeeping!! Many things used were not topped up - plastic cups, toiletries!! Oh, and the shower drainage is kinda stucked too! Besides that, we were very happy with this hotel!!

This is no fancy hotel, so if you are looking for that, look elsewhere!! But if you want good friendly service, with nice clean & spacious room on a convenient & safe location, this is the hotel for you!

We were in the hotel for 2 nights and we found it very likable for the location and the big room we had. A little noise because is located in a comercial street but the staff is helpful and the breakfast is great! The best croissants I´ve ever seen!

We picked Gea di Vulcano because it was highly rated on TA. It was the fourth hotel on our honeymoon and the bar had been raised high previously because our Nice room was amazing while others had excellent locations.

A 5 minute walk from Roma Termini (train station), on main Via Nazionale, Gea di Vulcano was a mixed experience. The location is fantastic - there are several bus stations on Via Nazionale and all the major attractions are at 20 minutes walking distance MAX. The metro at Piazza Republica is very convenient since it was 2 minutes from the hotel. The staff is extremely helpful and accomodating - I had been in touch with them on email and they were prompt and courteous. Even during our stay, they were cheerful and helpful.

While the room was large, it was quite average - woollen blankets and mediocre furniture. This, coupled with an average breakfast, were the only shortcomings of the hotel.

I would recommend this hotel for a no-frills stay. It has too much of a homey feel to feel luxurious, even with the large room and bathroom. Good value for money, though.
