For a budget minded traveler, this place could not have been better or the people nicer. The location is incredible, just a block away from the Piazza Navona and walking distance to the Vatican and other sites. It is a small hotel, not fancy but with a very cozy feel to it. The hotel staff went out of their way to do nice things for my us. The breakfast was good and had a lot of variety. We were in Rome in January and it was pretty cold most days. We came back to the room to warm towels, a spotless room, a comfy bed, a nice hot bath.... I would definitely stay here again.

We have traveled much and Residenza Canali has to be one of our most pleasant stays! With Stefan, a sweet, caring and attentive person. Antonio, intellectual, curious, conversationalist, and Max, lover of life......just go with his restaurant recomendations! All at the front desk, Francesca and her brother, and all the ladies that served us wonderful cappuccino.....even momma were terrific! We miss them!
Rooms and bath were spotlessly clean, and they even double sheeted the blanket for us! Nice ample supply of towels too.
This charming little place (10 rooms) is in the middle of Rome! Attractions in all directions, 5min stoll from Piazza Navona, charming side street location with antique shops, great restaurants.
We loved our room. Not elegant, but charming. Check out the photos on their website and see what we mean. It had own rooftop terrace, to enjoy sun, birds, rooftop views, a place to enjoy wine or bring your breakfast up (4 flights of stairs!!) Wonderful!
The staff were interested in our daily experiences, helpful in arranging reservations for sights, meals and drivers.
There was nothing we didn't like about this hotel, considering the type that it is. Sure, one grander may have plusher bedding, but it was just fine. So if you want down and all that, this is not the place for you.....but you will be missing out on a wonderful total package that is often hard to find!
We haven't stopped talking about out wonderful experience there, and what a perfect time we had!

This was my first time to Rome and was traveling alone, so I was pleasantly surprised when greeted by name and offered a delicious cappuccino upon walking through the door. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for walking to all the main attractions and a taxi stand is close by. The breakfast was yummy and the room was clean. The reason for the 3 on the sleep quality is because every morning at the crack of dawn, very loud birds that sounded like babies crying congregated in the nearby piazza (Piazza Navona - fabulous). Due to the weather, I had the window open, and the birds were really annoying. If the window was closed, I don't think you would hear them. LOVED the free computer in the lobby. I felt safe and comfortable, like I was staying at a friend's home.

After multiple trips to Rome, we've stayed here the last two times and will not need to consider anywhere else in the future. It is a very nice small hotel on a quiet street just a block north of Piazza Navona. The location is ideal and the hotel is clean and well kept, with a very attentive staff.

For both stays, we arrived very early in the morning, before our room was available (because the prior guests had not yet checked out). They checked us in, told us that they would hold our bags while we went out and explored Rome, and gave us towels and a very nice washroom where we could change our clothes and wash up. They just could not have been any more friendly and welcoming. When we got back to the hotel after taking in the sights and having lunch, our bags were in our room.

On our last trip, we learned of a death in the family on the second day of what was supposed to be a four day stay at the hotel. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. They helped us arrange flights to get home the next day and negotiated with our airline for us when we had difficulty because we did not speak Italian. They would have had every right to charge us for the full four nights that we had reserved, but they did not. They also refused to charge us for the ten or more international phone calls that we made from our room. They just offered their condolences and said that they recognized it was an emergency.

It is easy for hotel staff to be accommodating when everything is going well. It is quite another thing for them to go out of their way to help when something that is not their responsibility goes very wrong. Even if the location were not so perfect (which it is) and even if the hotel were not so well kept (which it is), we would keep coming back because we were treated as though we were family members. How often can you say that about a hotel?

We had a terrific stay! Stefano made us feel so welcome, and went out of his way to assist us with travel to other parts of Italy. A wonderful place to stay, in a great neighborhood (one minute from Piazza Navona),with great staff, at a reasonable price-a rare find!
