I stayed at this hotel during my second visit to Rome at 23rd of july. Similar to previous traveler we book for II Covo but they gave us a room in an apartment block which was 10 minutes walk away from the reception and the cafe for breakfast. The condition of the room was bad and worst facility. The tragic started on the first night.
In the middle of our sleeping, our hotel room caught fire. Fortunately was no one was injured but our baggage and luggage were all burnt into ashes. We were very angry about the hotel staff and also the way they settle us after the fire (Of course, we have no clothes to change no food to eat no money to spend and even didn't have a place to rest after a nightmare).
First, before me and my family fell asleep the room was blackout for twice (This showed that how the hotel never put an effort in maintain the safety of their customers).
Second , when the blackout happened for the third time i quickly rushed to the reception desk which was located 10 minutes walk away from the apartment. The bloody stupid staff was unprofessional and irresponsible. First, as a receptionist you MUST and HAVE TO polish your English in order to communicate with your customers. (This showed that they are very careless in taking good care of their customers).
Third, when we already explained to the hotel staff what had happened after so many times of blackout the hotel staff ignored us and replied in a nonsense answer. We were already looked panic and faster asked him to follow us to the room but he walked very slow even after seeing us run like mad.
Fourth, when we reached the apartment we can see that actually our room was already caught fire. As a receptionist or a hotel staff, the first thing you should do is evacuate the other customers or the residences inside the apartment and help us in moving out some belongings. However, the stupid ever receptionist was just standing outside there looking at us and didn't even help anything. Lucky we met some helpful passer by to pass this nightmare.
Fifth, the hotel personnel cancel our booking for the first night as she said was an apology for our lost ( we initially booked for 2 nights). However, they refused to compensate for our second stay. I mean, hello are you crazy? Me and my family lost our money and luggage in the fire and this happened because of the bad maintenance of your room and you wanted us to PAY for the second night? And the worst part is they still dare to assign us into an old apartment which was also located quite far away from the reception!!!
Yes, the hotel is located very near to the metro station and even colosseum. As a traveler we always looking for a hotel with good location to save time for traveling. But i wanted everyone to know the true face of this hotel. They aren't care about your feelings or even your life, what they cared for is money only. If i would agreed to pay for the second stay at their hotel they will be nice to me, but when i turned them down they straight changed face and don't even want to talk to me. this is how they treated their customers who just faced an accident. Make sure you check where is your room if you want to book this hotel.
