“A Sanctuary in Bustling Central Rome”
Reviewed October 27, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We spent four nights in September and wished we could have spent more. The apartment is in Monti—a dense, lively, if not a bit gritty (old Rome) neighborhood. The apartment was in the middle of everything and yet tucked away from it all. Once you pass through the giant doors, you go upstairs to a beautiful courtyard with lots of greenery. Two more flights of stairs take you to the apartment which has a beautiful terrace. The apartment gets lots light. The place is well designed and feels spacious. It’s modern. It has all the utensils you would need to for cooking. A toaster and an espresso maker! A nice shower with lots of hot water and good pressure. The place is comfortable. And the sofa turns into a most comfortable bed (the best in a four week stay in Italy).

The apartment is close to everything—train station, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and the Colosseum. In fact, the Colosseum is extremely close and yet the neighborhood feels far away from the crowds of the Forum. There’s a great take-out pasta place right next door or one door down. Grocery stores, plenty of restaurants and interesting shops were close by. There’s a park with lots of trees on an old estate nearby. Sometimes it’s nice to be close to greenery in Rome.

I mentioned the apartment felt like a sanctuary because it did provide us some shelter—so to speak—from some storms. When we reached Rome, we discovered out debit card had been stolen. Gildas’ place provided a safe haven as we sorted out financial stuff. It all worked out. Visa wired us money to a place just a couple of blocks away. The other stormy stuff was a storm. While we there, rain came down in sheets. But we felt nice and comfy inside Gildas’ apartment.

Gildas was extremely friendly, helpful and communicative throughout our whole booking period and stay. He answered all our questions. We really loved his place and would highly recommend it.

“An oasis in the city”

This apartment is an ideal place to stay in Rome. It is in a well maintained building in the heart of one of Rome's most interesting neighborhoods (Monti), which is full of unique shops and good restaurants. It is a short walk to the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Campidoglio, and is close to a metro station. The apartment has the old world charm of its wooden beams, but it is completely updated with stylish decor. The highlight is the splendid garden terrace, just outside the kitchen area, with sofas, outdoor dining table with large umbrella, and a view of the cupola of Santa Maria della Madonna dei Monti. Delightful! The owner is a good communicator, and our local contact person, Roberto, could not have been more helpful. We hope to return some day.

“Design Terrace Coliseum - fantastic apartment”
Reviewed September 8, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Myself, my husband and my son travelled to Rome for a 7 day stay at the end of August and had the pleasure of staying in Gildas’ apartment.

We were delayed on our arrival at Fiumicino airport (2 hours), we had arranged a private transfer from the airport to the apartment and thankfully the guy had waited for us. I contacted Sara who was meeting us at the apartment to let her know of our delay, she was so lovely and waited for our arrival. The apartment was very homely, charming and spotlessly clean. Sara spent time showing us all around, how to gain access to the building, codes for the doors, how the front door locked worked, light switches, aircon, oven, washer/dryer everything, she was absolutely fabulous. It was smaller than we thought in the photo but was a perfect choice, and the layout made it perfect, myself and my husband took the bedroom and my son had the sofa bed, there were sliding doors to close off the lounge so we could get up early without disturbing our son.

We loved the terrace and was definitely a highlight in this already fantastic apartment. Very spacious and comfortable. The most surprising thing about the apartment was just how quiet it was, given its central location.

We couldn’t have chosen a better location the apartment is situated a 5/10 minute walk from the Colosseum and many other main attractions. There was a lovely Piazza just across the street where the locals meet up, with lots of surrounding streets with lots of restaurants and bars.

On our next trip to Rome, there is no question about where we will stay. Thank you so much, Gildas for everything.

“Peaceful oasis in the centre of Rome”
Reviewed August 3, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We found this apartment to be full of character and charm, It is bright and airy and very well designed, furnished and equipped. The terrace garden is a lovely feature and a real bonus. It is located in the centre of Ancient Rome in the lively and colourful Monti district, nevertheless it is a very quiet apartment. The area is full of restaurants. We particularly liked Scuie Scuie It is only a short walk to the Colosseum, the Forum and the Trevi Fountain.
Gildas was very kind and helpful throughout our stay. We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who would like to experience the real Rome.

“Perfect place in a beautiful city.”
Reviewed May 16, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We booked Gildas apartment for a 5 night stay based on the five star reviews here on Trip Advisor plus its proximity to the Colesseum.
The complex is through wide double wooden doors from Via Baccina into a marble entrance hall, then up a flight of stairs to the courtyard. The lift to the top floor leads to another wide marble hallway and the door to the apartment. Inside, the kitchen is along one wall with the terrace entrance in the middle. Full length sliding doors can either screen the living area and bedroom from the kitchen or, as we had then, open to give a very open- plan feel. The bathroom is at the end of the apartment with a big shower and the washing machine very cunningly hidden behind a sliding wooden panel. There are beautiful wooden ceilings as you are at the top of the building.
I totally loved this apartment. It was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and very quiet. We did not realise when booking, what a great location it has in Monti, all the bars, restaurants and shops you could need are all within a 10 minute walk, if you wanted to go that far! The Piazza della Madonna dei Monti a couple of minutes away was our favourite place. Grab a bottle of beer and perch on the fountain steps chatting, "people watching" and taking in the whole atmosphere - perfect! A few steps home to calm & peace again.
Rome is far more beautiful than I realised and Gildas apartment was the perfect place.
Special thanks as well to Sara.
We will be back one day!

“Fantastic stay!!”
Reviewed April 23, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We stayed here for a week in April 2016 and absolutely loved the apartment. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need and the roof terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine in the sun! The local area is buzzing with lovely restaurants, bars and cafes and is minutes away from some of the main sights of Rome. We'll definitely be returning!!!

“Charming apartment in a charming neighborhood near the Colosseum”
Reviewed March 24, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We had a wonderful time during the week we spent at this apartment. Gildas was extremely helpful, even taking delivery of a very large package I needed to have shipped to me before my arrival. We arrived in a downpour, but someone was waiting for us with an umbrella and showed us the way to the apartment. It was beautifully equipped, including some basics for cooking which we appreciated--and also including two umbrellas! The rooms are large and there's a lovely terrace where you can sit and enjoy yourself on a sunny day. (Yes, we did have some!) The location was fabulous as a base for exploring Rome, a five-minute walk from the Colosseum and within walking distance of many other sights; it's close to two Metro stops. The streets around the apartment have everything you need: many restaurants, pastry bars, nightspots, grocery stores, newspaper shops, even a dry cleaners. We would love to come back again someday.
