Owner description: We organize Cooking Classes in Rome, and Cooking Classes, Wine and Oil tasting in Umbria. In the cooking lesson, all the ingredients come directly from the producers, we do not use commercial food, and we tell our "students" the history of the ingredients and producers. Our idea comes from a great passion in researching high quality products of the Italian cusine by visiting and talking to producers all over the Country. Our greatest desire is now to share the traditions of our Country with visitors: by telling them, but particularly by actually living the experience making tourists immerse themselves as much as possible in the true Italian daily life and in a family environment. An experience that people can bring home in their "personal baggage"!

“Experience Italy The Right Way”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

I have lived in Rome for three summers now and am always amazed at how quickly tourists speed through historic sights without ever getting a sense of real Italian life. If you want a different travel experience, one in which you make a connection with the people and understand their passion for the culture, then the Spicy Italian Life kitchen is the place to be. Food is an integral part of life here where time and attention is given to the harvesting, preparation, and enjoyment of food. Imagine making such dishes as handmade fettucine with a fresh tomato sauce, gnocchi with mushrooms and pancetta, cornetti, bruschetta, and tiramisu in an outdoor kitchen surrounded by a beautiful garden. The fresh herbs used in cooking come from the pots in the backyard. An olive oil tasting, fine wine, and, of course, coffee compliment the meal. Anna, Alessandra, and family create a welcoming environment where guests receive a taste of Italy at its best. I will be back for a lesson on how to make pizza in the outdoor wood-burning oven.

“A Fun and Delicious Day!”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

We booked a cooking class with Spicy Italian Life during our visit to Rome in May and I cannot rave enough about how great this was. It was by far one of the best things we did during our two week stay in Italy.

Anna and Alessandra are awesome and speak very good English! This is entirely a family operation and everyone is there pitching in from taking photos, driving, helping cook etc, and they are all just the sweetest nicest people. Also the setting is beautiful. Gorgeous outdoor kitchen surrounded by gardens where we picked fresh herbs and fruit!

We learned to make bread, bruschetta, fettuccine, gnocchi, cornetti and tiramisu. All the food was delicious and we've already made the bruschetta at home twice! Also, we learned about the appropriate types of flour and olive oil to use and why. And, Alessandra taught us how to properly taste olive oil!

Next time I'm in Rome I will definitely be back to learn how to make some more delicious Italian food!
