We really enjoyed staying at HQH. The only reason why I gave the overall and the location rating a 4 is because it's really very noisy outside at night and in the early morning and the 4 floors of stairs you have to climb to get to your room. Otherwise it's the perfect place to stay over in Rome. The little pizza restaurant at the bottom next door is also a great place to grab a bite to eat.

Pros
- excellent location, 5 minutes walk from Colosseo, we walked to all the major attractions
- lots of nice restaurants and delis in Via Serpenti, Charity Café for Jazz/Blues just around the corner
- we had a newly renovated comfortable room with a kitchenette and all the amenities facing the street
- very clean
- quiet location
Cons
- no sign for the hotel, you have to look for Via Serpenti 6
- narrow and steep staircase (the rooms are on the 4th floor). There is a small elevator which didn't use
- reception is manned only a few hours per day
- we had a complete blackout at 8.15 in the morning and could reach only an answering machine. The problem was solved during the day.
- we were sent an email that we had to change rooms which after expressing our surprise was amended to being a misunderstanding
- last, but not least, there was a nasty foul smell in the bathroom which we suspect will need a major intervention by a plumber to be solved.
Would we stay here again ? Yes, definitely, but only after making sure to get a room with a bathroom without smell

The room we rented for 3 with kitchen was nice, modern and clean. Shower/bathroom has strong water pressure and modern as well. Beds were comfortable and location was perfect, only a 10 minute walk to the Colesseum, a 5 minute walk to the Metro Cavour train station. The apartment is on a nice residential neighborhood, a lot of nice restaurants and Gelateria nearby, Milvio restaurant just literally next door which serves great food. Staff was very helpful, did most of my correspondence thru email with Orielle. Andreas was more than helpful in trying to contact Alitalia so many times due to one of our luggages missing. Their shuttle to and from the airport was worth it too, the driver waited 45 minutes at the airport during our arrival since we had to look for our missing luggage and I didn't hear any complains. Only thing is it's on the 4th floor with no elevator and this maybe hard for folks who has trouble going up and down the steep stairs. Overall we enjoyed our 7 nights stay and would come back again.

The only positives are the Location and that the personnel is polite and helpful. Otherwise the 'hotel' was a complete disappointment. Our room was tiny. There was no soundproofing and you could not sleep from the noise from outside. Hot water was not working properly. Drainage was smelling badly. Our friends' room was smelling cigarettes badly. The beds are camp-beds type and the mattresses uncomfortable. Pillows are unacceptable. Overall if it was not for the location which is very near the Colloseo it was going to be a complete disaster. I would definitely not recommend it.

I stayed here in October 2013 with my boyfriend and would definitely recommend this place. Location was great, very close to the Colesseum and also close to the Cavour metro stop. The front door is right opposite the American Apparel shop. Reception is up a few flights of stairs (it's true, the lift does not work) and once you check in you are shown to your room and given a set of keys, then you are free to work away. The rooms are very clean and the kitchen area is very useful for making your own breakfast. Towels are provided and they are replaced each day when the room is cleaned. Muffins and bottled juice are provided but we stopped at a nearby supermarket to get a bit more food to keep in the fridge. There is also free wifi which is handy. There are a few restaurants and bars nearby although I did not find it too be noisy or disruptive at all. The staff were very helpful and friendly and even looked after our cases for the day when we checked out.

Very good if you do not have lots of baggages as this on 4th floor without lift. We stayed there for two days. Location is so perfect.Everything was clean and good, warm welcome with juice bottles and muffins , in fact they provided it every day. Do not forget to try variety of pizzas from the next door restaurant 'PALLOTTI MILVIO', it has very tasty and reasonably priced food.

Stayed here the first leg of our honeymoon. You can see the Colosseum from the front steps. Awesome location. Room was big enough for the two of us complete with kitchen area. Owners were pleasant. Not much of a bed and breakfast per say but we didn't mind as there was a cafe down the block. Would definitely recommend. Check out La Carbonara around the block.
