I'm reluctant to give up my secret gems because I don't want my places swamped with tourists and ruin the atmosphere. Maurizio, the owner, had asked me to write a review of his restaurant, so I obliged. I find myself in Rome during the summer on business, so I know the restaurants to visit. This is my place in Trastevere. The wait staff is really nice and won't pad the bill like some places in Rome. Huge selection of an anti-pasti buffet, 1 plate visit for @ 7 Euro. House wine is very good, a Montepulciano, my favorite (red). They always have fiori di zucca on the menu...flower of the zucchini. (If you have never tried this, it'll rock your world!) Osso bucco is a winner. Nice selection of pastas too. I was really in the mood for grilled calamari the evening I visited. It wasn't on the menu, but I asked Maurizio if he possibly had it...he did and it was outstanding! GO, enjoy the place, it's a great restaurant in Rome!
