After reading the reviews on TA decided to try La Fata. It did not disappoint. The meal was fantastic. I read a prior review that said the place was not really Roman, disregard what they say. The restaurant was packed with locals. With the exception of another couple, we were the only tourists there.
The owner, Gianluca, was great. He went over the entire menu (they have a menu in English and Italian) and explained all the dishes. He recommended wines and explained how they might enhance what we ordered. The food was fantastic. I had the burnt mortadella appetizer and my fiancé had the eggplant parmesan. Both outstanding. For entrees we shared the pasta genovese, which I must say, was perfect and the seared beef with Mediterranean seasoning. The beef was cooked a perfect medium rare. Our friends had the ricotta flan appetizer and the ravioli and carbonara. They loved their dishes. For deserts we had the Tierra misú, dark chocolate mousse, white chocolate mousse and fresh strawberries. All excellent.
The prices here are way less than what I expected. At the conclusion, Gianluca gave us his card, took our email addresses, and said to call him directly if we desired to come back.
Go to this restaurant, it is outstanding. You will not be disappointed. I wish Gianluca and his awesome staff all the best.

These people know how to make their clients happy. Waiters take care of you as soon as you walk in and never let you go. They love describing their menu and wine list in details. Loved every single dish and appreciated the wine suggestion. The restaurant is stylish and at the same time cosy , stroller/wheelchair friendly (ground floor - no stairs), family friendly (enough space for strollers between tables and the bathroom is provided with the baby changing table). Just a few steps away from the B line Piramide subway, and other bus stops but far enough from the touristic busy places. Perfect location to start your evening before heading to the clubs in Testaccio and Ostiense areas. Can't wait to go back.

La Fata Ignorante was next door to the apartment we had rented in Rome for our visit. We visited many restaurants in the neighborhood but walked past this one because it looked too upscale. We were tired from site seeing one night and decided to give the place a try since we would not have to walk far when we were finished. It happened to be the night of a big soccor playoff so we were able to get a table immediately. (This would have been impossible if not for the playoffs!) Gianluca, the owner, greeted us and made us feel very welcome. We ordered and were served by his very friendly staff. The food was wonderful! We enjoyed talking to Gianluca and sharing our love of food. We had such a positive experience that we made reservations on the spot for the next night. That also proved to be a beautiful experience.

This place was rated very high in TA so we felt we had to give it a try. We took a taxi from Navona to this place expecting great things....we were disappointed....the food was ok but the atmosphere was not very "roman"...everyone in there was foreign...
My daughter had the tagliata with balsamico (seared grass-fed beef sliced)...it was absolutely delicious! I had the vitello col limone (veal with lemon, kind of like a veal marsala)...it was average...the service was good....Overall, not worth the trip when there are so many restaurants in Rome. I could get that kind of food and definitely that type of atmosphere in America....
if you feel homesick..perhaps a good choice...but if you are in Rome to experience the culture, the food...perhaps better to skip.

Thanks for the review. We appreciated you liked our food and our service. Personally I think we would deserve something better, because, as you said, the service was good, something like the TAGLIATA also delicious and we have a lot of traditional roman dishes but you have to choose them, to be able to judge. What you ate is very standard, very good quality, but nothing really roman. Let me make a little note. We are very proud of the international, elegant and cosy atmosphere of our place. We are the country of art not only of gladiators. To be in an elegant roman restaurant you don’t have to find a red-checked tablecloth and a loud speaking roman host . Normally eighty % of our clients is Italian, that night there was a lot of foreigners (not only tourists, and it’s different). Sorry if you would have preferred to see all Italians around you. The atmosphere of a place depends on food and ambience and has nothing to do with clients.
