“Weekend in Rome”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

Brilliant location just a two minute walk from the Vatican. We stayed in the quadruple room and it was massive. Spotlessly clean and Fabrizio the manager couldn't do enough for you. Loads of restaurants in the street below but it's worth exploring Rome where the restaurants are nicer.I've no complaints at all - my only gripe would be to have an English speaking channel on the tv but to be honest we only used the room for sleeping. I'd def recommend this guest house

Ideally placed if you want to be really close to the Vatican. It is in a very pretty street with decent restaurants nearby. The area is dotted with grocery shops which made it handy for us to stock up on breakfast essentials.

We had a nice short city break in Rome, and it was to celebrate something. So I looked for a place in the city, and we ended up being very close to the Vatican city, in a small street, quiet in the morning and full of people have lunch at our very doorstep, as this apartment is on the 3rd floor above a restaurant. The apartment is has nice paintings on the walls, nice furniture, and a good bed and shower. We even ended up preparing our own meal, the kitchen has everything for a small pasta meal, and little shops are just also downstairs. So in every way a very nice and good place to stay, be reminded that is on the 3rd floor, and no elevator.

After having been in Rome/Vatican countless times (100+), my wife and I decided that possibly our last trip to Italy should be in Tuscany. However a few months before leaving, we were informed that our request to attend a Papal private Mass and audience was granted. We were to report to the gate leading the Holy Father's private chapel at 6:45 A.M. for a 7:00 o'clock Mass on November 8. Being in Florence during that week, we had to find a residence within walking distance of the gates. Not knowing the exact arrival time by train for our overnight stay and return time to Florence flowing the Mass/audience, we also needed a residence where we could leave our overnight luggage possibly hours before check-in and hours after check-out. Borgo Pio 91 was perfect answer. Not only were we allowed to leave the luggage with the manager, but we also had a well-appointed attic room with a spacious shower room, a balcony (although the view was roof tops and side of buildings), and air conditioning -- a good thing since we were there on a hot November day. Being an old, but renovated, building in a congested city, there was no elevator to take us to the third floor (76 steps); however, Danilo met us at the door and carried the luggage for us. Not only that, but he also made a phone call on his cell phone to connect us with a friend. Since the friend was not available, Danilo volunteered to call again later. Upon checking out, his assistant took our luggage downstairs. We did not have to pay until check-out time, and between the time we reserved the room on-line and arrival, Danilo contacted us by e-mail with timely reminders. Borgo Pio 91 is also surrounded by quality restaurants, one of which has been a favorite of ours for years -- Roberto al Passetto di Borgo .

Stayed for 2 night on a recent city break. Room was large and very comfortable, location was excellent 2 minutes walk from the Vatican. Only let down was the wifi did no work and with2 teenagers this was a problem. Lovely room everything we needed at a great price!

Our family of 5 stayed in one of the actual hotel/inn rooms at Borgo Pio 91, not in the apartment annex. It was a great location in an updated but old building, giving us a true Roman experience! We were able to easily walk to the Vatican, and the cobblestone streets were charming and filled with restaurants, cafes and shops. In fact, the entrance to Borgo Pio 91 is right behind the tables of a restaurant on the (pedestrian only) street!

The room was comfortable and clean, with a set of bunk beds and a rollaway bed for the three kids. The bathroom was modern and the shower, especially, was a welcome relief from the July heat! Because this is in an old building, there is no elevator, so we took 3 flights of stairs to get to our room. Not a big deal for us, but something to consider if stairs are a challenge.

we stayed in rome for 4 nights at Borgo Pio 91 we had the superior one bed apartment - this was about 8 minutes walk with suitcase (comfortable) and 3 minutes walk from a bus hub. From our windows we could see the Vatican gate and we enjoyed the eateries that were in the street below. These were not noisy at night. the annex above our room did have wooden floors and the guest had high heel shoes that did my head in but they were only there for 2 nights then our son took over the room with his partner and they were delighted with there room . The rooms that we got were as pictured on the booking.com website. they were up four flights of stairs no lift and the reception area was out side your door. The staff though not good on English went out of their way to organise buses to Sorrento for us and gave us local tips on things to see that are not in the guide book. One downside was cold showers for 4 days but I do not tell them so if you do not tell someone they can not fix it. Kitchen while being there does not have equipment to clean etc . Looked in on other rooms on the lower floors and there was a mixture of double with bunks and just doubles and they all seemed good size rooms and clean.
