Description: Overlooking the gardens of the Villa Borghese, the beautiful park of the Villa Medici, with the backdrop of the Dome of St. Peter's Basilica, La Terrasse Cuisine & Lounge offers a breathtaking view of the 'Eternal City'. Ideal atmosphere for a moment of pure relaxation, it becomes the perfect place for an aperitif, an event, a business lunch, a candlelight dinner. Ingredients selected from the nearby Roman countryside, love of Italian and French traditions and constant innovation are the characteristics that distinguish the cuisine of the Executive Chef Giuseppe D'Alessio. His menu becomes a triumph of Mediterranean flavors and aromas. Il menu dello Chef è un trionfo di sapori e profumi mediterranei.

“Great Service! Great Tapas!”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Having just arrived in Rome and staying at the Sofitel my wife and needed a light dinner. Despite arriving at the restaurant without reservations and a little underdressed the staff immediately seated us in the lounge area and made us feel welcomed.

We decided to order all (7) items on the Tapas menu. This turned out to be an inspired choice as the individual plates were all perfectly prepared and included some great taste parings such as a cheese sampler with ginger chutney.

Though pricey at about 6eu each the Tapas rivals any I have had anywhere, including Barcelona.

The presentation of the blueberry tart we enjoyed for dessert was inspired.

The wait staff works with the precision of a well practiced drill team and truly understands what customer service means.

I am often disappointed by hotel restaurants, not this time!

“Just good for price”
Reviewed April 14, 2013 via mobile

Let me be clear up front - the fourth point is for the view.

We were staying at the Sofitel (WOW, by the way) and were leaving to come home to Canada the next morning. After 10 days, we were exhausted and this restaurant had great reviews so it was a natural choice.

We had to wait about 20 minutes for our table which was not really an issue as the bar/lounge area is really beautiful with very nice service. When we were seated and had ordered, we were served an "amuse-bouche" which set the tone for the meal. It was nice. That's it, nice. Nothing special. The food was good, maybe close to very good but was not memorable. Both our meat courses were over done.

What let them down was the service. It started off very good but dwindled from there. We had to ask for another drink twice - once for my husband and then 15 minutes later, for me. We were never offered dessert or coffee in spite of sitting there for another 15 minutes after our plates were cleared. We went outside to see the view and one gentleman came to bring us blankets (November) but back inside, no one came near us.

I will say, I would not hesitate to return if it was summer because I think dining outside on the terrace would be extraordinary. The views are absolutely amazing. But on a cold night last November, it did not live up to the reviews or, certainly, the price tag. This was the most expensive meal we had in Italy; not the best, not the worst, just the most expensive.
