You've just finished a long day at the Vatican. You're terrified of a tourist trap sucking you in or the jackal-like promoters taking advantage of your weakened state. To the rescue, comes this gregarious staff, warm welcoming atmosphere and delicious food. With incredibly reasonable prices, entertaining owners and free surprise gifts, this place may just be the highlight of your Vatican adventure.

“Real Italian dining”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

We were looking for lunch after visiting the vatican museums and luckily chose this restaurant.
The service was great, and the place has a real italian atmosphere.
The man and woman running the place are awesome! They went around checking on the tables and keeping everybody happy in an enthusiastic italian fashion.

The food was delicious and very well priced. They give you free chocolate and oranges after your meal which we felt was nice different touch.

It took a bit of a while to get the bill, but this was not a problem as we were enjoying the happy relaxed environment.

“Best Spot Near Vatican Museum”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

Just down the hill one block and a block to the right from the steps. Guilio and his sister Maria run a family owned restaurant founded by their father. The food is very good, the place is very clean and best of all, the prices are very low for this area. I have stayed down the street in an apartment for two months every year and eat at this restaurant often. It is always entertaining, with a lot of laughs and great food. Don't hesitate on this place, you will not be disappointed.

“Cheap and cheery near the Vatican”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

Having initially looked into a restaurant opposite the Vatican entrance, we nearly died at the price of the food!

Go to Ristorante Ai Musei in the street parallel and below the Vatican entrance (run by Giulio Massa and his sister Maria) and find a lovely little street cafe/restaurant which offers a great selection of Italian food at less than half the price. Also..... Maria guarantees that "you no like the lasagne, you no pay!!! It was delicious and Maria and Giulio were fantastic hosts. (even after we told them we were Scots over for the defeat of their team at rugby 2 days earlier!) Additional treats of Bruschetta and limoncello were added to our lunch free... gratis! And the ladies even raved about the toilets!!

Thanks for a great experience before our visit to the Vatican.

Tony and friends from Edinburgh.
