“Good budget hotel in Rome”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

My room was simple, but very clean and had a large bathroom with shower. The bed was very comfortable. I believe I paid about $75 for the single and it did not include breakfast. Nice location about a ten minute walk to the train station and maybe 15 minutes to some of Rome's best sites including the Spanish Steps, Forum and Trevi Fountain. The staff at the hotel was very, very friendly.

If you want fancy digs, go elsewhere. But if you want someplace that is spotless and friendly, then this is the place for you. The bedroom and bathroom were quite large and the bed was very comfortable. Everything was spotless. And the free wifi was great. The only drawback was no breakfast, but the area is so central you simply need to go around the corner.
A very good experience and will certainly stay there again.

The Hotel is near Termini Station in a safe zone. The rooms is located on the 3r Floor , there is a old and fun elevator that can help you with the baggage. There security is quiet good , since you need 3 keys to get to your room. My room was near the reception , so in the morning there was some noise. Every morning they make the bed , and clean the trash bag. All was clean when we arrive. If you want a simple room just for sleeping in center of room, go for it.

The hotel was the starting point for my Intrepid tour so I booked in there the night before. I had flown for 36 hours from Australia to Rome then caught the Leanoardo Express to Terminin Centrale. The hotel was within walking distance even at 10:00pm, basic accomodation but clean. Unlike aussie hotels it was just a small section of the whole building. Security was good, the lift traditionally small, just enough room for me and my bag. On the whole, good, basic, clean accommodation for those on a budget in a pretty good location in a city such as Rome.

Hotel Castelfidardo is located about 1/2 mile from the termini centrale train on the 3rd and 4th floors of a building which also houses 2 other small b&b's. I'm not sure if they are all the same owner. Security is tight in that 3 keys are required to get from the street to your room. There are no common areas where one can sit and relax with a glass of wine after a long day of touring around other than the tiny reception room with it's small couch. Our room was big enough to house a single and a king (or queen) bed, but no desk or comfortable chair and it was a rather dreary looking room although clean enough. Window opened out onto a non-descript alleyway. The mattress was rock hard and with no a/c, this would not be a place I'd want to stay during the summer, if you want to get any sleep and avoid mosquitos. Upon arrival we had no hot water, then it was scaldingly hot and hard to adjust for a couple of days and then no hot water or pressure on our departure day. Soap is from a wall dispenser, no bars of soap or little bottles of shampoo here! The breakfast voucher gets you ONE hot drink (coffee, cappucino etc.) and ONE mediocre pastry from the bar next door. An additional cup of coffee is one euro. One of our party asked if a piece of bread could be substituted for the piece of pastry and was told rather emphatically NO, that would be an additonal 2 euros. We don't require deluxe accommodations but this was way too basic for comfort, might be ok for college kids, but middle agers and up, beware. Staff was friendly enough, WIFI is available only in reception area and service is spotty at best. I was never able to connect though others were. A request for some ice, produced a few cubes from the staff refrigerator. There are many nearby restaurants and we enjoyed 2 good meals at La Famiglia (walking distance). For the nimble of foot in Rome's crazy traffic, and for those with sturdy shoes (for those cobblestones) and a good map, most sites are walking distance.
Next trip, we will opt to pay a bit more for a comfortable night's sleep and place to unwind.

Room Tip: I don't know if any of the rooms have a/c, but if they do and if it works, that would be somethi...
