If the gorgeous original parquet floors and painted doors from the same era as those in the Villa Borghese don't get you, then friendly and extremely helpful Martina will! She connected us with a FANTASTIC tour guide and was generally full of helpful information and advice about attractions, restaurants etc.
The location of Martina House is extremely convenient--within walking distance of both the Spagna and Barberini metro stops. Right around the corner is an escalator and underground walkway to the Spagna stop, which comes in VERY useful when it is rainy out...or when you are too tired to walk back up the hill...The neighborhood is quite lovely, with many restaurants within steps as well as the beautiful park surrounding the Villa Borghese--a wonderful spot to read a book on a break from sightseeing--just around the corner. And the Spanish Steps are also nearby.
Lovely breakfasts every morning, served by Martina, set the tone for our days of sight-seeing and it was SO lovely to come home each night to what really felt like our own cozy flat in Rome.
Also, the building has THE COOLEST elevator imaginable...More
