Brilliant, Aldo our host was excellent, helpful and informative. We stayed for 4 nights had a great time. The initial impression of the building from the outside is not overly exciting but make it to the 4th floor and the bedrooms are excellent. Aldo makes sure you have water, fruit and even a bottle of wine. The rooms are immaculate and the breakfast - fruit, yoghurt, loads of pastries, coffee, juice and toast is without doubt spot on.

5 min walk from the Colosseum loads of good inexpensive restaurants nearby why would you go anywhere else.

Thank you Aldo for your hospitality, good humour and great accomodation.

We spent 4 nights here earlier this month and were very pleased. Convenient to public transport, very clean, simply but elegantly decorated rooms with vaulted brick ceilings, comfortable bed, good shower. Aldo was friendly and very helpful.

Myself and my wife Stayed with Aldo at the La Finestra sul Colosseo for 5 night on our honeymoon. I can express how impressed we both were with the apartment and Aldo himself. Our room was beautiful and spotless with absolutely everything you could wish for. Every morning Aldo put on an amazing continental breakfast and water/wine and beer in our room daily. Our time in Rome was made all the more special because of the amazing friendly and helpful service Aldo provides, he really does go the extra mile and will help and advise with anything. Our luggage somehow didn't land with us in Rome and we had no idea what to do next, never fear Aldo is here! He managed to locate and get our luggage brought to us at the apartment. I can't speak highly enough about Aldo and La Finestra Sul Colosseo, I would recommend it to everyone and will be visiting again within the year and probably will go again and again. Thank you Aldo for all your help and hospitality hope to see you again very soon!

Room Tip: All the rooms are exceptional

Why stay in a hotel when you stay here!

I can only echo what others have already said about their experiences at La Finestra Sul Colosseo. I genuinely can’t speak highly enough of our experience at La Finestra Sul Colosseo. My wife and I stayed for 4 nights at Aldo’s B&B (and wished we had stayed for longer!). This is so, so much more than just a B&B though; and to call it that does it a discredit. It is very much like having your own personal apartment in the heart of Rome, with your very own personal tourist guide in the form of Aldo. The location is absolutely tremendous; close to all the sites, Manzoni or the Colosseo Metro stops, and right outside of a bus stop that will take you all the way through Rome. Don’t let the initial impression put you off - the apartment is on the fourth floor of a fairly unattractive old residential building on a fairly unattractive street. Having stayed in Italy before, and like most major cities, the rooms can be a little on the small side. But not here, all the rooms have been renovated and are vast, attractive and modern; as is the bathroom. Pretty much everything is white in the room, apart from the attractive open brick ceiling, which adds to the uniqueness and sense of space in the room. Aldo supplies the rooms with complimentary bottles of water and fruit. All the mod cons are in the room (Flat screen tv, hairdryer and even a DVD). Free Wifi is a bonus as well. TV is only in Italian, but then again, apart from watching the odd bit of football, we weren’t in Rome to watch TV. The room is spotless and cleaned everyday – more than you can say for some higher star hotels. Having said all this, what made the experience so good was Aldo himself. As others have already said he’s intelligent, gracious, friendly, informative and any other nice word in the dictionary. You actually feel like you’re having breakfast at one your mates’ houses! Breakfast is served in a small kitchenette and Aldo will supply you with an array of cakes and pastries. Clearly counting calories is not an option here, but certainly helps when you’re walking around Rome. As you would also expect from an Italian he makes excellent Coffee (he’ll offer you an Italian coffee or an American Coffee). However, the key to the breakfast experience is the insightful advice and guidance that he gives to his guests. He’ll go through the tourist map with you and tell you as much or as little as you want about where to go and what to do, and also where not to go and what not to do! Had it not been for him, we simply wouldn’t have found, or gone to, some of the amazing Piazza’s and restaurants that he told us about. When you’re only in Rome for a short city break you really need that extra bit of guidance. You simply wouldn’t get that in a “regular” hotel. He really is the best host possible to really explore Rome (as was his brother Lorenzo). His English is exceptional (despite him protesting otherwise). Born and bred in the city, he was able to recommend the two best meals that we’ve ever had. Little touches also make B&B’s; an example of this is when he graciously supplied us with a bottle of red wine after a hard day of queuing and pounding the streets. When you consider that you can get all of this for under £100 pounds and that they’re 5* hotels on the same street that are charging triple that, there is really no choice to comparison. We will definitely stay with Aldo again, if we can get in that is, and we cannot recommend this B&B enough!

It’s clearly a hugely popular B&B as Aldo is planning on “taking over” the 2nd floor as well.

Room Tip: Try La Ciambella restaurant near to the Pantheon and have a “cena” around the via la fico area

Clean, central, spacious. All the advantages of a hotel, without the formality of a hotel. Walking distance to the tourist sites, metro and restaurants. Aldo will help out with any tourist info, and also help you to avoid the tourist restaurants.

I was a little nervous booking this room since most of my hotel options tend to be chain hotels I can depend on or a bad experience. However, this was the best room I could imagine for such a reasonable cost! It was clean, quiet, and lovely. Aldo was an excellent host. He provided a delicious breakfast every morning and was willing to recommend good local restaurants and even made reservations for us at restaurants and museums. Also, the location is impossible to beat in Rome. Overall, this was such a wonderful experience! I would highly recommend this B&B - but book early because he only has 3 rooms!

We found this small B&B on TripAdvisor and were lucky enough to get the last room (of only 3) for our recent trip to Italy. What a great place! Aldo is the perfect host! And, for all of you "Italian-challenged," English-speaking visitors, Aldo speaks VERY excellent English. He is also very helpful in providing local information.

In real estate they say that the three most important things are location, location, and location. That is also true of a B&B, and this one is very close to the Roma Termini train station and just a couple of blocks from the Colosseum and all of the many attractions that surround it. It is also very close to major public transportation lines that can get you quickly to other parts of Rome.

We plan to return to Italy in 2014 and Rome is once again in our travel plans b/c we didn't have enough time to cover all of it on our first trip. We will definitely stay with Aldo again, and we cannot recommend this B&B enough!

Ben fatto Aldo! Ci si vede presto!
