We visited Rome for a 50th birthday celebrations, the hotel was well situated close to all the main sites, and bars & restaurants too were all walking distance.
The hotel itself was well equipped, clean, tidy, and comfortable. Bathroom was modern clean, bed was comfortable and we slept well on our 3 night stay. The decor was a little dated and the furniture a little tired, however this did not impact on our stay and enjoyment.
The staff learnt of our birthday celebrations and gave us some complementary wine to celebrate, which was a nice touch. The team at the hotel were helpful and curtious, and we would very likely return.

We stayed at the Hotel Raffaello on the last leg of our Italian road trip. After arriving back into the city at 22:30 we were at Termini and decided to walk to the hotel. It took us roughly 10 minutes to walk there and is roughly 6 blocks away from Termini which is easily walkable.

On arrival the check in was quick and easy without any issues and we were off to our room. The room was large and clean and had everything we could have required. The bathroom was somewhat modern with the required amenities.

The hotels location is brilliant as it is easy to walk between Termini and some of the bigger sights such a the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Trevi fountain and so on. There is also a brilliant late night pizza place 2 blocks down from the hotel that is definitely worth checking out!

The only quirk with this hotel was having to leave the key with reception each time we left the hotel. I can understand the reason behind it but there didn't appear to be any ID check when returning and asking for our room numbers key....good thing we didn't ask for another room!

There is a little supermarket 2 doors down from the hotel which is handy for any needed bits and pieces!

This is a great little hotel only about six blocks from Roman forum and four blocks from subways and trains. I enjoyed a three day stay here before a trip to the south of italy and a one day just before returning to the US. ATM available about 3 blocks away, and some really good restaurants, artsy shops. Staff is very helpful and talkative. Continental breakfast in the morning included. Desk will arrange transfer to the airport, it costs 50 Euro. Hotel lobby and waiting areas are decorated well with pictures and artwork.

Room tip: If you are solo and don't mind sleeping in a small narrow room, with shower you can get one for 100 Euro with you request it.

I saw that headline from another review and I think it sums it up perfectly! For what we paid, I think we should have gotten better. The room needs updating and is tiny - with 2 people in the room, it was almost impossible to move around. We had to move furniture around to make room for our bags and to make sure we didn't bump into anything. It was also very stuffy, the AC was practically useless (we were there in spring). And the shower....OMG it was the smallest shower I have ever been in (and I have travelled plenty in Paris which supposedly has the smallest bathrooms in the world). We were on the first floor, and the lift takes you to the first floor, but you still had to carry your own bags one more flight of stairs up (or down) - no concierge to help. The area itself was ok, central enough to walk around to all the sights or take the train. I'd say this hotel is ok, but I'm sure you can find something better at the same price. If you can't then you'll do just fine here but not very comparable to the other hotels we've stayed around Italy.

Dear SmitsV,

We thank you for feedback. We have read your review carefully and we regret not having completely met your expectations. The Hotel Raffaello has many types of rooms and the staff would have been happy to recommend the one that best suited your needs. Some reconfiguration operations are already planned, such as for the lift that will reach each floor.

We are pleased to know that the overall experience was still ok, despite some aspects disappointed you, and we hope to have opportunity to host you again in the near future.

Sincerely

Stefania

Good low cost accommodation near basilica Santa Maria and hop on hop off bus sightseeing pickup point. Many restaurants nearby. Rooms are clean but extremely small.
Desk staff can be a bit curt. Included breakfast is adequate. Hilly area to walk around in.
