Location could be better

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 20, 2019
The location of this hotel is sketchy. Taxis arent around and it's either the bus or a full 10 minute walk to the metro and we felt just a touch unsafe on this walk. It's in a working class area with tall apartment buildings. It felt a bit like Queens, New York, not Rome. Mattress and linens were not new and on par with a Motel 6 in US. Breakfast was really good and service was good.

The rooms are not as clean as reviews made it out to be. There are stains everywhere you look (in the sink -on the sheets) and marks on the wall. The lady at the front is not really friendly it’s like asking help from a fake friend.

Le camere non sono pulite come le recensioni hanno reso essere. Ci sono macchie ovunque guardi (nel lavandino - sulle lenzuola) e segni sul muro. La signora di fronte non è molto amichevole, è come chiedere aiuto a un amico finto.

The hotel itself is a little far from the city center and required approximately a 10 minute walk to the metro, then a 10 minute metro ride to the Terminal (where most sightseeing buses originate). Definitely not in the nicest part of town, but we felt safe nonetheless. It was also nice to have breakfast included. However, our problem was the air conditioning. It was not working at all in our original room even after a staff member came in to fix the remote. After trying to work something out between our travel agency and the hotel, they upgraded us to a very nice room on the first floor. Even still, unfortunately, the room was very hot and this made sleeping difficult. Especially after the trek to town and back in 80 degree weather plus humidity. I had been told that the city regulates the amount of air conditioning permitted during certain times of year, and because it was still early in the peak season, it was not fully on. If true, this is not the fault of the hotel but we had to leave nonetheless. For the same price, we got an AirBnB 50 meters from the Colosseum and could walk to everything. Overall, the hotel is a decent value if you are willing to forgive its shortcomings and we did appreciate the staff trying to work with us, but we had to find something a little more comfortable.

We booked this hotel when it was owned by the Holiday Inn, however upon arrival found out that it was taken over and rebranded. We never received any communication from either the Holiday Inn or the new owners about this change.

The hotel itself is close by to Toscolana station with a direct link to Romes main airport FCO and the downtown area. There is also a metro located approximately 7-10 minute walk away which provides access to the main sights across Rome.

We found the service from most of the staff to be very cold and almost felt that and request was a bother to the staff. We did also receive some very good customer service from one of the ladies working at the reception (can't remember her name unfortunately).

The room was of average size and had the basic amenities, although it didn't have an Iron or Ironing board in the room.

The bed and sheets were clean (no bed bugs either) and floor vacuumed however there were quite a lot of scuff marks on the walls that could be cleaned off by housekeeping but these marks just made the room feel dirty.

The bathroom was good size and there were early signs of mould forming on the roof about the shower and the grout on the floor in the shower could do with a clean.

The breakfast was just a basic continental set up however felt the quality of the food to be lacking.

Whilst the hotel is located next to a metro and train station for good access to Romes sights we felt the area was a little unsafe at night when walking between the stations and the hotel.

Overall the hotel was average at best but defiantly has the potential to be a good hotel if cleanliness and service quality improved.

This hotel is good if you are confident jumping on multiple metro lines to get to the “must sees” and surrounding areas of Rome. It isn’t located in the “nicest” area but we never felt unsafe. Also Very close to the speed train that runs directly to the airport.

Arrived early and could not check in until 2. But the hotel staff were Willing to hold bags and the staff were all incredibly friendly during our stay.

The breakfast offered is “meh” and we were charged daily taxes- on top of what we already paid when we booked.

Overall this is a decent, safe hotel if you don’t mind staying pretty far outside of Central Rome.
