My girlfriend and I visited rome for 5 days and stayed at this lovely Hotel. We had a room on the first floor with the window on the alley side and we liked it a lot. I must say that the room was small but we had everything we
needed and the air-conditioning was brand new. We found the front desk very helpfull and they gave us a lot of information. The breakfast was served in the room which was okay for us but I can imagine that some people don't like that and want a breakfast room. The area is full of restaurants and bars, so in the evening you find everything nearby.

We stay 3 days in Rome was funny to find staff helpfull, our first experience in Rome was excellent.
The hotel was very clean and very quiet we stay in the first floor with nice view ancient house, the owner explain about the history of trastevere special the church next to the Hotel and all most important tourist attraction. About the location was great 50 mt from the main street Trastevere crossing the Tiber Island we reach Campo de Fiori, Navona square, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum and the Colisseum and even the Vatican City is within a walking distance colosseum Vatican city all in one day. All day the staff bring excellent capuccino with deliciuos "cornetti".

Please avoid this 'hotel' at all costs.
First thing, it's very hard to find. We had large suitcases wheeling over cobblestones and it wasn't fun.
Second, the staff are extremely rude. We complained about our room being tiny. The receptionist mumbled curses at us and called her boss.
When we returned from our evening meal at 10:30 the new receptionist threatened to kick us out if we did not pay up front!
Third, the rooms have the charms of a prison cell - complete with bars on the windows. Our room was 13feet by 9 feet. we couldn't both open our suitcases at the same time. Also, the noise levels will drive you mad. A couple catching a 5AM flight woke us up leaving and a scooter going by at any time will wake you.
Lastly, to top it off they don't have a breakfast room. You are forced to eat your breakfast in your room on a trolly which seems very unhygenic to me.
For €140 a night they should be ashamed. I don't know how this place got into lonely planet.

The room was definitely on the small side but the welcoming and attentive staff made this a truly wonderful stay. Breafast in bed included cappucino that helped us welcome each new day in Rome. Clean and affordable and close to all the great sights. For those on a budget who refuse to skimp on service, Trastevere House is the perfect place.

Just returned from a one week vacation in Rome, booked through go-today, with the entire stay at the Trastevere House. The trip was extremely affordable--cheap even. Although the hotel is a little noisy, due to the late night walking around neighbors in the residental Trastevere area and visitors to the front desk staff, we found the hotel to be charming and clean with a nice window box of flowers. The staff was available 24 hours a day and were very friendly and helpful. If you enjoy becoming part of the local area, including eating dinner late in the evening and returning home at the same time as most of the neighbors, being able to walk to tons of local, excellent restaurants (including those in the former "Jewish Ghetto") a small but clean room, and a lovely setting you will likely enjoy Trastevere House.

Just got back from a week-long trip to Rome, and stayed at Trastevere House booked through a package with gotoday.com. Luckily it was (a) winter and (b) not tourist season. The rooms were tiny, and we were unfortunate enough to get a room at the front of the building, right on the street. If the windows were open you could hear people on the street as if they were in your room. Luckily there wasn't foot traffic going by after 11pm or so. Also luckily we got up fairly early every day...we would have been forced to with the scooters zooming by and waking us up. I had more complaint with the internal noise...the walls were made of tissue paper! Thankfully it was 2 single travellers in the room next to us, and not 2 honeymooners! We could hear every word that was whispered in the room next door, and every click of the lightswitch.

Beware of this hotel in the summer months! There is no air-conditioning, and no air circulation in the small rooms. It would be suffocating, I can only imagine.

The room itself was tiny (as I mentioned), but I expected that.
However, it was clean and the bathroom was also clean and fully functional.

Breakfast itself was fine, if you could get it. The meal consisted of cappucino, orange juice (more like Tang), a croissant and a roll. We had trouble getting breakfast on time a few days. One day we left early for a tour of Pompeii and were told that we left too early to receive breakfast. I'm sure all hotels have breakfast hours, so I can't really complain about that.

There were no phones or alarm clocks in the room, but I didn't expect them. I did find the front desk to be unmanned a few times, but not enough for it to be a problem. I found the front desk people to be helpful and accomodating.

This hotel is in a great location for restaurants, every night we found a great new place to eat that was really close. It was also close enough for us to walk to City Center in just a few minutes.

We stayed here for one night and found it noisy and cramped. The walls were thin and the door to the room didn't block out any sound.
Breakfast was a joke -- the worst I had in the 3 weeks I was in Italy.
There are better places to be found in the same price range.
