I was dreading staying here based on some of the reviews but was actually pleasantly surprised. The room was much cleaner than most of the other places I stayed in Italy. The reception staff were friendly enough and provided maps. The breakfast had quite a few options. It's not the nicest of neighbourhoods and there was a lot of street noise if your room faces the road. I stayed as part of a group tour and saw three different rooms. Some look quite lovely and others need a make over. I easily carted my luggage to and from Termini and there is a great café very close by which the lady at reception pointed out to me.

I didn`t expect anything exceptional for €48 BB per night in centre of Rome. I was very surprised from the begining. Hotel is very close to Termini main train/bus/metro station about 5 min. So it`s giving you great base for explore Rome. Reception is veeeery friendly even if its located in small room which cant fit more than 2 guests:P Room was very clean and good size. Only minus is strong smell of cigarettes. A/c work very good and windows are sound proof.Small fridge in the room. Houseekping is doing great job there!! Internet is slow but there is computer room next to reception that you can use for free 24/7. Breakfast is served on the roof top terrace!!! amazing view and great start of the day. Breakfast is typical continental food, some cold meats, cereals, pastries, fruits etc. But possibility of eating breakfast on the roof top terrace is just unreal!!!! I hope I will come back again even if didn`t throw any coins to Di Trevi Fountain :)

Hotel Stella is situated really close to the termini station. You can catch the train to rome then, walk even with big bags to the hotel. It will take you ten minutes maximum. It is an older style hotel but seems to be well maintained. The room was clean but decor is dated. There is a big supermarket two minutes walk away. The breakfast was not really my style lts of carbs but it was plentiful and typical European breakfast with lts of pastries etc. the bathroom was pokey but adequate. It was good value for money and you could walk to all major attractions easily if fit.

for a family or 2+ travellers worth a try, probably you dont get a better price in any hostel near Termini. For a large triple room with private bathroom in mid july we paid 60 EUR + local fee 2EUR/adult. If the hotel has *** then the breakfast definitely *****.

The hotel was OK. When we first arrived the lady in reception wasn't very friendly at all, and the room was underwhelming - small and old fashioned, but clean. We were also charged extra for air con in the room and for tourist tax. However, the location was good - very close to Termini, and possible to walk to all the main attractions if you don't mind walking. The location was quiet during the night, however we got woken up early EVERY morning by the cleaners talking very loudly outside our room when cleaning the other rooms. This wasn't helped by the walls being very thin, for example if people in the room next to you having a shower, it felt like they were in your room. I also had a small nose bleed while there which went on the sheets, however the sheets weren't changed, even though the cleaners went in every day. Although the rooms were basic (just one spare plug socket, which was in the bathroom - not ideal for charging phone etc), it was all we needed for a city break to Rome, as we didn't spend much time there.
The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast room, on the 6th floor the outside balcony was very nice with good views. The selection for breakfast was ok, but we mostly stuck to the bread rolls which were nice. The breakfast staff were friendly compared to the reception staff.
Another good thing about the hotel was that the reception was 24hr, we were checking out at 3am for our early flight, so this was necessary for us. When we checked out, it was a man in reception, who was a lot friendlier than the lady when we checked in.

Overall the hotel is OK and all you need for a city break where minimal time is spent at the hotel. The breakfast is good, and so is the location, which felt safe. However we probably wouldn't choose to stay there again

Small clean rooms. The hotel is central to metro buses and train station, there is a supermarket around the corner. Great breakfasts on the 6th level of the building, eating in or outside on the balcony

Pros- close to Termini and Metro stops, good continental breakfast, beautiful views from the breakfast room, quiet location and atmosphere, bathroom was a decent size
Cons- cramped room, flat/hard pillows
Overall, it was not a super hotel, but good enough for basic accommodations.
