“Heart of Rome, Rome with Heart”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2011

Alessia and her staff at Morpheus are ever-present and helpful, but never intrusive. The rooms are clean and efficient, the perfect home base for exploring all of Ancient Rome by foot, taxi, bus or train. It's very comfortable, but not luxury.

The neighborhood is well-located and quiet at night. Breakfast was always fresh and prompt, the perfect fuel for getting out and about quickly. I really miss the endless espresso and capuccino for breakfast...For lunch and dinner, lots of great, affordable local restaurants.

Rooms on the 5th floor all seemed redone recently. Especially the bathrooms. Number 15 is a corner room with a nice street view and even a few trees. Nice to be up away from the street noise. Whether you are headed towards the pantheon, the colosseum, or the spanish steps, this is a great central location to walk from. There is a supermarket just across via national which is very convenient.

I was visiting Rome as a leader of a school group. We took up the whole hotel during our stay. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. I really liked being up on the 4th and 5th floors where it was quieter and the view from the street-side rooms was better, and did not mind climbing the stairs for it.

This hotel is perfect - it is centrally located to all the great sites. The staff is amazing - they are very helpful with every detail - from transportation to reservations for sites and events.

I bring a group of students from the US to Rome every year. Although this is our first time staying in this hotel, we have stayed at another managed by the same people for many years. This hotel by far exceeded our expectations. The staff is so welcoming. Their English is perfect, yet I have seen them switch between Italian, English, French and German flawlessly.

We loved this hotel. We stayed in a 4 bedded room overlooking the back of the Liminale (I'm sure the picture on the website was taken from our room). It was clean and newly decorated and furnished. The elevator was a charming 'deco' period/ 20th century wooden box with quaint glass doors and aged mirrors. My sons were thrilled with it and it bought a smile to a faces everytime we crammed our 'medium-sized' bodies into it.

The build quality of the bathroom fixings were not top notch (if the Coloseum had been built by the same team then it wouldn't have lasted into the next Emperor). However, we count this as part of the quirkiness of travel, and a wobbly towel rail and rickety loo paper holder, is not a big issue for us.

The building is a classic Italian apartment block from a different era and the rooms were pleasantly warm, clean and spacious enough for four of us to live in reasonable comfort.

The staff were very efficient and friendly. The breakfast is basic, but more than enough coffee and pastries to fill you up for a day of sightseeing in Rome. What more could one want?

The staff recommended a good local restaurant where we ate two courses, wine and soft drinks for 60Euro total. Not fine dining but good Italian fayre to revive weary travellers.

Helpful with advice of places to see and how to get there. Very small room, We only stayed there on advice from a friend, who had stayed there, only due to its proximity.
I would choose somewhere else next time. It is very cramped room.
Breakfast area to small, only half an hour for breakfast per room, and had to be prebooked. There is a basic limited selection of food for breakfast, and washing of crockery and cutlery was done during breakfast which was noisey and unenjoyable.
Low adherence to non smoking policy, Could smell cigarette smoking in foyer. Towels on one day were not supplied as they had run out so they gave us floor mat. Also WIFi only available at 3 euros/day that was not my understanding.

The room was very adequate & clean. The young woman at the front desk during the day was extremely pleasant & helpful! The central location allowed us to walk to nearly all the places we wanted to go to, plus the metro station was very close by. Loved the uniqueness of the building & elevator!

We just arrived back yesterday from our trip to Rome, although the hotel was well situated and the small rooms were very clean, I would never stay there again for multiple reasons:
1) very noisy, I had only about 6 hours of sleep a night because you can hear everything: doors, keys, showers, footsteps ...
2) very old elevator and when people don't close it right it doesn't work so you have to walk 5 stairs
3) very small breakfast room, with same breakfast everyday: croissant, yoghurt and a coffee + you have to make reservations the day before
4) and what disturbed me most of all was the staff: they were not very friendly, looked like they didn't even like their job, and worst of all even if we don't speak italian we could hear them laugh and talk about us (they were so stupid not to think that their walls were so thin we can hear everything) apparently they find it childish that some people don't drink coffee and drink hot chocolate instead in the morning.

I felt very uncomfortable and not at ease in the hotel and I'm glad I'll never have to stay there again.
