We chose this Hotel manly because of It's location.
Besides the location that is excellent, by the way, the Hotel is very good itself.
The room had a good size for Rome standards, Nice bathroom, cozy decor.
After reading TA, we asked a room not facing the street.
We didn't have any view but our room was very quiet.
Low points mattress too soft, and breakfast. Served on the first floor, the idea I think is nice, not just buffet, not a la carte as well, but the service was sometimes too slow, not a huge variety of items, specially fruits.
But the overall experience was pretty nice.

Room Tip: As I read here in TA, I asked to room not facing the street, it was really quiet that's for sure, but no view at all.... So make your choice, some view and some noise, or no view and silence, in a second stay I would risk for the view...

Very good location within walking distance to Barberini – Fontana di Trevi Metro station. After you get out of the Metro find the street "Via del Tritone" which is on one end of Piazza Barberini, then you'll see the Hotel sign right there.
After having booked and paid for the hotel months in advance my wife and I were surprised to be sent to another 4 star hotel because "there was a problem with our rooms". The same thing happened to our friends (another couple) which were trying to check-in at the same time.
The other hotel didn't have free wifi and was also within walking distance so the location was fine at least. We didn't get to see the rooms at Stendhal so we don't know which was better of the two.
I think that overbooking the hotel is a lack of disrespect to paying customers, specially ones that had booked with months in advance.

Dear Customer,
we are very sorry about your ugly impression upon the arrive in the Stendhal.
The over-booking is not our policy; but sometime it is the only way to solve a daily inconvenient in a small boutique Hotel like the Stendhal.
Could be an human error in reservation files, structural problems, or customers who change their stay without notifying the Hotel.
We spend a lot of time in the control and in the prevention to avoid these problems that are detrimental to customers as well as for Stendhal.
We are very sorry that it happened to you; we always try to improve ourselves, we also hope to this matter.
Many thanks

This is a great small hotel in the centre of Rome, we really couldn't fault the location of the hotel, just a five minute walk from the Spanish Steps and maybe a little further from the Trevi fountain. Close enough to walk anywhere but far enough from the crowds to feel relaxed.

Our room (on the 5th floor) was of a reasonable size for Rome and very clean and well equipped. We particularly appreciated the traditional shuttered windows which added to the Roman atmosphere.

The buffet breakfast was decent, and service always second to none.

We would definetely return.

We stayed for 3 nights last weekend. The room was a good size for Rome and the bed was Queen sized. However, when we came down for breakfast the first morning (10) there was very little left to eat. Service was also very slow. At night the room was so hot that I rang the reception to ask could we turn down the heat. I was told no and should open the windows for 30 minutes and close them again! Not a great idea when the room is overlooking a busy street!

Room Tip: When you book ask for your room to not be street facing. Very noisy!

Dear Customer,
we are sorry to not have fully satisfied your expectations.
The weather in March is crazy; it is very hot or very cold, it rains for days or on sunny days to a week, but unfortunately the Stendhal has a central heating system and we can not swich off/on every day.
We are sorry, but the suggestion was really the best solution.
For the noise, on request there are back side rooms, no view but very quiet.
The breakfast buffet is on duty until 10;30, over this time, our staff is always ready for any request.
With these travel experiences we always try to improve, thanks.

We stayed here for three night. This area is amazing, the hotel is close to everything, great restaurants and locations.

Room was a bit small and you don't want to be big for the shower! But it was a great stay

We booked te 3 night package with airport transfers, the pickup did not arrive which was annoying but we got the transfer back to the airport.

You will like the real hotel
