Wonderful little gem in the heart of Rome. Quiet, clean and staff was helpful. Within walking distance of many sites, restaurants and shopping. The staff directed us prior to arrival of a shuttle from the airport that stops a short walking distance from them.

The Antiqua Roma is a wonderful apartment, that is fantastically situated for all the main site seeing attractions Rome has to offer. Enrico Chiari the proprietor is a very pleasant, helpful man, whom makes you feel very welcome and will give you great directions from the airport to the apartment and any other information that is required for the city.

The Antiqua is a 5 min walk from Piazza Cavour. A 5 min walk to the River Tiber and a 15 min walk to the Vatican. The furthest attraction is the Colloseum which is approximately a 25 min walk. If walking is not for you there is a bus services that will take you to all the sites.

The room we stayed in was a spacious en-suite, very clean, and extremely comfortable. The only negative was no tea/coffee facilities. However, there are plenty of reasonably priced cafes nearby (I would recommend Lunch).

Would thoroughly recommend this apartment for a stay in Rome.

Advantages:

* Location: Close to city center, Vatican, Tiber etc
* Clean: Especially bathroom
* Enrico: The owner is very friendly, knows the city well and is willing to assist with useful info.
* Free WiFi
* City maps & travel guides, books.
* Character building
* Good value considering Rome prices.

Disadvantages (I am nit-picking here):
* Mattress quite hard
* Some corridor noise
* Poor WiFi signal due to wall thickness

Overall highly recommended.

Enrico is extremely helpful and the room is very nice for the price! There is a cafe right downstairs for breakfast and the walk to the very nice trattori north of Campo di Fiori is easily walkable for dinner, or the pricier ristorant in the myriad Piazza! Nothing is too far to walk and there is a bus stop for the Fiumicino shuttlebus only 5 minutes away.

Would thoroughly recommend. Enrico (English speaking owner) is available in the mornings and early afternoon.

Room Tip: The more expensive rooms have their own bathroom, the shared bathroom is very nice and it's not...

We stayed in Antigua Roma for five days in late september.

Finding a nice, affordable room with the perfect central location wasn't easy, but boy I'm glad we didn't chose one of the overpriced lumpy 1 star hotels - but chose this instead.

Overall, our stay was wonderful. The room was spacious, had all the basic facilities (except from toilet/bath which was just outside the room) and had a nice view over a charming Roman street.

Normally, I don't like to share bath and toilet, but this was impeccably clean and conveniently located next door to our room. The room was also very clean too and was decorated in a warm and personal manner.

The owner, Enrico, was extremely helpful and kind, doing all he could to make us feel at home and was constantly available to offer good advise on request.

As mentioned, the location is sublime and within walking distance to all the great landmarks, compelling city areas and shopping. Moreover, the place can be reached by a direct airport shuttle (8 euros one way) that stops two minutes from the building. Other busses can take you straight from the building to e.g. the Colosseum if you're not into walking more than 30 minutes or so.

Speaking of hotels, this must be one of Rome's best kept secrets. Prime location and great service for a bargain price is a rare commodity when traveling European capitals.

Don't hesitate to book this; we warmly recommend it.

Stayed here from the 17th-20th, great place to stay if you are planning on packing a lot into a few days. Less than a km from the nearest metro and a lot if buses use the stops in the nearby square. Easy to get to from the Termini and as soon as we booked the room I got an email from Enrico advising the best way to get to it using the bus. Whilst there he always greeted us every morning and we felt right at home. Don't worry about the fact you can only pay by cash or travellers cheque, that's due to the high fees hotel owners get charged for those machines!

I believe this is a gem in one of the most central locations in Rome. Only about 100 meters away from the River Tiber (great for finding your way back to Antiqua Roma !!). With the Piazza Cavour the same distance in the opposite direction. If you fly into Fiumicino Airport then there is the SIT Bus Shuttle that takes you direct to the Piazza Cavour for about 6 - 8 euros. Close by is the Castel Sant'Angelo well worth a visit. About 15 minutes walk westwards there is the Vatican which is a must see. Cross the Tiber and everything else is within walking distance, or get on one of the Hop-on Hop-off buses for a quick tour of Rome.
Our accommodation was very spacious and our room was en-suite. Only problem, as mentioned by others, is the lack of aircon and with the window open the street noise. Enrico is a great host and could not be more helpful. Book direct with him if possible

Room Tip: Some rooms are without en-suite.
