The Marco Polo sits in central Rome, near the termini main rail station - very good situation. Unfortunately it also sits 3 floors up so its a long tiring walk to get in to it or its the use of a very old 2 man lift. The rooms are pretty basic but clean though some are situated very close to Reception so its pretty noisy first thing in the morning. Do wish hotels wouldn't charge for the use of wifi!
All in all its an ok place to stay and great for the station and central Rome.

Dear Mr Stewart B,

First of all we want to thank you for the nice words about our location.
Then, we want to give you sincere apologies for the issues you may have experienced. We have rooms on different sides. If we knew it was too noisy for you we certainly changed it with a quieter one.
I remind you booking directly by our official website besides to get the best rate available, the wifi is included. Otherwise it will have just a little cost (hourly, daily or no-limits).
Next time contact me directly. I would be glad to take personally care of your potential future stay. I promise you that if you would give us another chance, you won’t be disappointed.

Best regards

Four days in Rome stayed at Marco Polo, situated near the Termini so very convenient but not the most attractive part if the city. Hotel is situated on 3rd floor, there is a small lift up to the hotel just enough for two people and a suitcase. The room was very clean and the decor very pleasing. The breakfast was continental with a good selection of Italian ham, cheese, fruit, cereal, croissants, coffee and fruit juices. More than adequate to start the day. Internet costs ?2 for two hours , we were given free to the second person. This was more than enough for the short time we were in the room not sleeping. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for clean, comfortable and convenient location. The staff are very helpful and friendly I would definitely stay there on my next visit to Rome . Have just returned from a five day stay in The Marco Polo. There were four of us occupying two rooms. The rooms are adequate for a city break. Clean a good size the bathroom was very good however the shower head is in great need of replacing. The breakfast is excellent plenty of choice and lots of different coffee's. The staff are very nice and helpfull, the lift is very small and qwerky but was never a problem. DONT USE THE METRO IF YOU CAN HELP IT, I'm a very sensible and methodical person whome
Is very careful but I had my purse stolen loosing money and my credit card. There are too many beggers and thieves hanging around. Don't miss the Vatican, you don't have to be religious to appreciate the most fantastic architecture, the incredible Sistine chapel and the basilica is breathtaking, don't miss the trev fountain it's beautifull, there is so many fascinating buildings but wear flat shoes it's hard on your feet.

Dear Murfish,
We are happy to know you had a pleased stay at the hotel Marco Polo.
Nice to know you found the breakfast excellent, the rooms clean and of a good size.
As a long time resident of Rome, I have always felt secure here.
While Rome has no more crime than most large cities in Europe (and is safer than many), travelers need to be cautious about petty crimes.
i hope this didn't ruin completely your vacation.
Please, come visit us again when you'll be in Rome in the future.
Sincerely

I have spent 5 days in this beautiful city and I have been at Marco Polo Hotel. I found this hotel really clean and tidy, both the rooms and the common areas. My room was cozy and large, the service was friendly and operative. Also the breakfast has been really good, with continental food and a tasty Italian coffee. I can suggest this accommodation to my friends. Moreover, the location is perfect because is near the train station (with direct trains and buses to both the city airports), well connected with the rest of the city by buses and both the lines (A and B) of underground.

The location is great. Really 2-3 minutes' walking to Termini station or metro station. A big supermarket nearby in the Termini station. Also numerous fast food options in the station.

The room is ok. Not too small. There are actually some artistic feeling thanks to the paintings on the wall. The decoration in the bathroom looks old-fashioned. The shower room is super small, which made it hard for me to turnaround. The hotel just occupies part of a floor in a 100-year old building (my perception) with old lift, but that's typical in Italy. Some rooms were under construction/ decoration, generating noise during daytime. Anyway, it's quite quiet during night.

Breakfast is ok. Just pastry, jam, milk, cereal, juice, coffee and tea. But that's not below my expectation too much. I'm satisfied as long as I can get free cappuccino from the coffee machine.

No free internet! It makes things not so convenient. But again, it seems to be the norm here. 2 euro/ hour, 4 euro/ 3 hours.

The receptionist in the morning is horrible. It seems that he hates everyone. He would not give you rooms upon check-in at 12:30 pm, although later I found there were actually rooms available. It seems that he just wants to wait to 1 pm and then it's none of his business. The one in the afternoon shift is much better and friendly. The one in the night shift is the best - very nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Try to avoid checking in before 1 pm so as to avoid the receptionist of the morning shift
