What a fine hotel. It's a small family owned and run operation that's right in the heart of the ancient district. We were 3 blocks from the colosseum and 2 2 to the forum.
The bed was great, the hotel is quiet and classy. Breakfast is at the cafe next door.
A five minute walk to the Metro terminal that will you all over town. TIP: Buy a Roma pass for 30euros and get into 2 venues and free public transportation for 3 days. Before you go make an online reservation at the Vatican museum and avoid a 3 hour line. They will email you a voucher and you go around the line and right up the door!

Room Tip: Our room was in the back and very quite.

An incredible find! Walk to the Colosseum, Roman Forum and other ancient sites! Very comfortable room, with a great bed, very helpful and friendly English speaking staff. Ricardo, the owner, will make it right for you if you need anything. There is a Metro stop 2 blocks away that connects with just about everything. We highly recommend Locanda Colosseo! Nice bottle of champagne complementary in the room. IMPORTANT TIP: Get a Roma Pass from the store a couple of doors away for 30 Euros, and COMPLETELY bypass ALL the lines to the Colesseum and other sites. ALSO pre book your vatican visit on line and bypass the 2-1.2 hour line!

Room Tip: A room on the right hand side as you walk in will be on the alley away from the street.

Very good hotel. The room was very quiet (there are anti-noise window) and clean. Excellent shower. We've got a champagnhe bottle for gift. There are lots of restaurants and grossery stores on Via Cavour. Perfect location - 2 blocks from Colosseo. Breakfast simple but good, in the nearby building (that is a cafe/restaurant). Highly recomended.

me and my wife visited rome for 3 nights and by chance booked in locanda colosseo hotel in cavour street. we didnt know till we got there that its near everything that is great in rome - the colosseom and the roman forum just a few steps away, piazza venezia, and travi fowntain as well as the spanish stairs was really not far away walking, and many more attractions and fun sights that rome has to offer. BUT THE REAL GREAT THING ABOUT THIS HOTEL- is the human touch. the manager and the staff was amazing. they were happy to explain, and direct us to sightseens bustops restaurants etc. they were alwais smiling and realy nice, for real:)
the room was clean, fresh towels, very comftable,
the breackfest served in a coffeeshop just near the hotel front door was nice too.
me and my wife promised ourselfs to come back and visit LOCANDA in the future.

Locanda is in an excellent location close to all the ancient city ruins. There are also many restaurants, pizzerias and ice cream parlours in the vicinity. Locanda was very clean & tidy and the staff very friendly. Our only negatives were the breakfast at the nearby cafe as the pastries on offer were dry and bland, plus we were once given the wrong food, then the rest not brought out which was disappointing. We simply left and didn't bother to cash in our voucher again, instead preferring to get something of our own. We were in an end room which was very peaceful however there was a very weak Internet signal which meant we had to hover near the door if we needed to go online which got quite frustrating.

There two negatives are very minor and easily rectified, I would definetly recommend staying here for a few days sightseeing in Rome.

Thanks to Richard, his father and Frances. All in all a very delightful stay.
We (a married couple in our 50's experienced travellers with a sence of flare and an a eye for genuity, on our 9th visit to Rome) stayed here in end of feb and beginning of march and give this little place our warmest recommendations.
The mangement at Locanda Colosseo even had prepared a nice gift for us.

Locanda Colosseo is located in the Monti area which has a pleasent relaxed feel about it. Breakfast could improve some, however provided a friendly insight in the daily morning routine at the block.
You keep the myth of Italy alive... thank you bror & aira

What a perfect hotel for a sightseeing trip! The room was big enough and so clean. The noises from the street do not stop in the night, so take earplugs if you are sensitive and then it´s not a problem with sleeping. The owner (and his dad!) were so helpful and friendly and we´ve got great tips for a restaurant and walking around.
The breakfast in the cafe next door is typical for Italy. It´s enough for starting the day and we liked sitting inside and watching all the people at the bar.
The metro is a little walk away but it´s more enjoyable to walk through the streets and discover the italian feeling! We would stay here again.
