“A marvellous location!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013

We stayed in the Hotel Ponte Sisto for a week and can honestly say we enjoyed it immensely. The hotel is located just at the pedestrian bridge Ponte Sisto, up a lovely athmospheric narrow Roman street. The rooms are not massively big, but more than large enough for a weeks stay. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the morning buffet is lovely, try the sweet pastries:). We found the staff pleasant and helpful, and really can't complain about anything.
But the best thing about the hotel is the location. we were within walking distance of all of historic Rome. Up the road was Campo Fiore--a market with the most wonderful food stalls, especially vegetables, and in the evening it was full of people enjoying all the eateries. Across the bridge is Trastevere, the most vibrant, buzzing area of Rome. And to top it all, just outside the hotel is on of the best Ice Cream parlours in Rome--the hazel nut was lovely:)

My husband and I spent a week in this lovely hotel in June last year. The hotel itself was lovely, and the staff was very helpful. If you take a look at Google maps beforehand you might be a bit shaken to see the narrow alley where the hotel is situated but when you see it, the alley is actually quite picturesque. This location of this hotel is excellent: everything we wanted to visit was within walking distance of the hotel: Fontana di Trevi, Piazza di Spagna, Colosseum etc. And the charming area of Trastevere is just across the river - there you can find tens of small, cosy restaurants. The breakfast area of the hotel is really worth mentioning - open courtyard: you could no have a better start to your day.

My wife and I wanted to find a hotel which was central to the places we wanted to visit on our long weekend in Rome. After doing our research we settled on Ponte Sisto and it was a great choice. On a narrow street a few metres away from the main street along side the river Tiber it is a haven of peace and tranquillity after a hard days sightseeing. Situated between Vatican city and the Colosseum roughly 20 minutes to 30 minutes stroll for us seniors along the banks of the river.
Iv'e marked the room down slightly because although ideal for us, others such as our colonial cousins from across the pond might find it a bit small but it had everything we needed. A good nights sleep is guaranteed and lets be honest a hotel room is at the end of the day just for sleeping in.
The bar is small but well stocked and lounge area quite and peaceful. Breakfast was obviously what we Brits call continental style but couldn't fault it, plenty of variety for every ones taste
My wife who travelled extensively on business all over the world in all sorts of hotels, including Siberia, and if she gives it the thumbs up that's good enough for me.
We would certainly stay again and hope to in the near future.

How can you get a good nights sleep in the madness of Rome? Tuck away on a side street and have a room that overlooks a garden. In Rome? You bet. That's when you discover the Ponte Sisto located a few steps from the bridge of the same name. From here you can get to Trastevere's night life and the Campo's morning market with ease. And the garden patio for breakfast, a pause during the day or a quiet moment before bed is always perfect.

Room Tip: I booked a double for myself so that it would be a bit bigger. Ask for a room with an outdoor patio...

We loved our stay here. A really nice hotel in fantastic location right near river and Trastevere.
Wholly recommended. Breakfast in the courtyard is a delight.
Easy walking to square for lively bars at night, and to Trastevere other side of river for many great restaurants.

This is definitely NOT a four star hotel !!
We booked this thru Expedia as our last night in Italy, at $325 plus $36E to park.
The location is great, very central.
The doorman, Mohammed, was fabulous. The desk staff were ok.
The room was a disappointment. As tiny as any 2 or 3 star.
Well worn, to put it nicely. Scraped walls, a thermostat with every button broken, a phone with all broken buttons, a cheap plastic shower divider in the bathroom.
The main floor bar is equally dreary, a dismal room with walls desparate for new paint, a wood floor with most joints open, and a scraped and well worn bar.
All in all, a low end 3 star (at best) at a 5 star price.
Go elsewhere.

Room Tip: Select a different hotel.

We drove up to Rome from the Amalfi Coast on a Sunday morning ( best time to drive in Rome). We also had our husky in tow. The hotel was easy to find, near the Tiber River nod just up from the bridge the Ponte Sisto. They have secure parking behind the hotel, and that's where our car stayed for the rest of our stay. The staff were charming and helpful and we were all welcomed warmly. The room was just wonderful , large and spacious with an enclosed courtyard and a huge spa bath, it was the largest bath I have ever seen. We have travelled extensively and the room had every conceivable item one would want or need. The central location meant that we old walk easily to all the tourist attractions, points of interest, museums an galleries. We had a wonderful stay, all three of us. Rome is such an incredible city and on the day we visited the Vatican, Pope Benedict resigned. We had nothing to do with it I promise. Stay at this hotel, you will not be disappointed.
