We drove up to Rome from the Amalfi Coast on a Sunday morning ( best time to drive in Rome). We also had our husky in tow. The hotel was easy to find, near the Tiber River nod just up from the bridge the Ponte Sisto. They have secure parking behind the hotel, and that's where our car stayed for the rest of our stay. The staff were charming and helpful and we were all welcomed warmly. The room was just wonderful , large and spacious with an enclosed courtyard and a huge spa bath, it was the largest bath I have ever seen. We have travelled extensively and the room had every conceivable item one would want or need. The central location meant that we old walk easily to all the tourist attractions, points of interest, museums an galleries. We had a wonderful stay, all three of us. Rome is such an incredible city and on the day we visited the Vatican, Pope Benedict resigned. We had nothing to do with it I promise. Stay at this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

Spent a week here and selected it primarily because of the high ratings it received from Tripadvisor reviewers. I should've done more research. LIVE AND LEARN...Apparently there are a lot of people writing reviews on Tripadvisor who either don't travel much or are not discerning travellers.

This hotel misses on all counts when compared to other four star hotels. Even people who rave about it's location should think again. It's basically a mile and a half to the Coloseum or to St Peter's. That's not my definition of an outstanding location. And if you're a little older, it can be a hot walk in the Roman sun.

Additionally, there are no quality restaurants near the property. The best meals we had were near by were al fresco in Camp de Fiori or across the river in the Piazza della Scala area. Breakfast in the courtyard was average at best but most of the wait staff were rude and unconcerned. If it's raining, all breakfast guests are squeezed into two small adjoining rooms. Very claustrophobic. There is no restaurant in the hotel so forget that. Although the woman working there was very cordial, the bar was very expensive.

The room was clean but small. The one water glass in the bathroom (for three of us) was never changed, even though I made sure it was dirty just to test housekeeping.

The wifi only worked in the bar area, reception or courtyard-but only near reception.

The front desk staff was friendly and helpful to us, but I noticed they were pretentious when dealing with other of their customers.

For this kind of money I expect alot more from a hotel. Very disappointing. Would not receommend it for the prices they're asking. Service and attitude would have to increase significantly before I'd recommend this to a friend.

Room Tip: stay somewhere else.

If you're looking for a hotel close to Piazza Navona, the trendy Trastevere and other attractions this is a great choice. The standard rooms are very tiny with nice bathrooms, but clean. Staff is friendly and accommodating. The gardens are very nice as well. Overall we enjoyed our stay here, price was right for what we got.

I can't really think of a single bad thing to say about the Hotel Ponte Sisto. The staff was very friendly and helpful...giving us directions, recommendations and offering assistance for anything we needed. The hotel was very clean, well maintained and reasonably quiet (the seagulls were the loudest thing we heard during our 4 day stay). The full breakfast buffet (included) was very good and had a fairly wide range of items to choose from...from healthy choices to the other end of the spectrum. The location couldn't have been any better in our case. We had planned to walk to all the major sites around the city and found that most everything (The Vatican, the forums, the collesium, etc) were within 30-40 miutes waliking time. There is also a wide variety of restaurants within a few minutes walk and a very nice Gelato place across the street. We would definitely stay here again for our next trip to Rome.

Perfect location, however it certainly did not live up to our expectations. The courtyard which features on its website is most attractive, but that is definitely for summer travellers. Our room which overlooked the courtyard was clean, with a comfortable bed, and a beautiful, well equipped marble bathroom; so no complaints. The hotel has clearly reached the stage of needing a makeover; it gives the feeling of being (very) tired. The atmosphere was dour; the staff, though pleasant, offered few smiles and lacked a cheerful approach. Breakfast was fine, just a little different. No large plates for hot food, so choices were crammed onto bread and butter plates, lots of breads, fruit cake, jam tarts, pastries, cereals, cheese, yogurt and fruit. Okay, but too many uninspired choices! A restaurant which was advertised in the room brochure no longer exists; closed due to poor patronage. The bar food offers a very limited choice (ham and cheese toasted sandwich). There are no tea/coffee making facilities, and room service for anything has a €10 charge. The bar was closed on New Year’s Eve when we wandered in shortly before midnight, hoping for a late night drink. WiFi is only available on the ground floor; reception, bar/breakfast rooms. Unless you have a laptop and a cable you are out of luck for any computer use in your room. Unfortunately, the ground floor WiFi went on the blink and was non-existent for several days; not sure why a technician was not called! A perfect hotel for group tours, but not “exclusive” as its brochure suggests. The Hotel Raphael which did not have rooms available this year, will see us again next time.

Excellent suite, spacious, very comfortable. excellent reception staff. great location, able to walk to all sights. being next to the river meant we could go jogging every morning and hired bikes (at campo di fiori) to cycle along the river bike path. many eating places at campo di fiori so convenient, also small supermarket next door, 2 excellent pastry shops within 20m.
Bad points: wifi isnt great and only avail in lobby. have to use cable in room, again speed not great. buffet breakfast staff was not welcoming, coffee-stained wall where the pots are kept- not cleaned the whole 5 days we were there. The twin room for our 2 teenagers was not close to our suite tho we had requested it to be adjacent, thought this would have been possible because this was a large hotel.
