“Unbeatable Location, Helpful Staff”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

My sister and I stayed at the Cosmpolita for 6 nights. You could not have a better location in Rome. The Forum was behind our hotel; the Trevi fountain was 3 blocks north, the Historical Center was an easy walk to the left. We walked everywhere, including to the Vatican. Our room was pefectly fine, although we only slept there; we were out exploring the city constantly. I liked the hardwood floors; the shower in the bathroom had great pressure; the room was clean. The ac worked just fine (we went in April). We felt safe at this hotel, and the front desk staff was very helpful, particularly one young man who knew English very well and even reserved a table for us at a local restaurant.

Room Tip: Our room was on a busy street; you could ask for a room on a quieter side.

My husband and I stayed three nights at this hotel after a cruise. There was a misunderstanding about our reservation, so when we arrived they did not have our reservation. They were able to give us a room, but at a substantial price increase from our original reservation. We did get a larger room which was nice. The breakfast was good, the cappuccino excellent and the staff very friendly. As others have said, the best thing about this hotel is its location. it is very easy to walk to all the sights. Contrary to what others have said, we found the bed quite comfortable. Except for the fact that it was more expensive than we had anticipated, we were happy with this hotel.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing us!
We are really glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and in particular that you found the bed very comfortable. As you mentioned in your review, we received few bad comments about the bed experience and for this reason we recently changed the mattresses in hotel, in order to encounter our guests’ needs. We really thank you for sharing your experience with us and we are happy that you felt the difference!
We are really apologetic for the problems encountered with the booking, that was not confirmed. Unfortunately the rate was a little higher and the Front Desk staff offered to upgrade your room from a standard to a superior one as gesture of goodwill!
We hope to welcome you for future lodging needs, in case do not hesitate to contact us, we will be glad to reserve you a special treatment!
Kind regards

While this location was central to everything (in a single day we were able to walk from the hotel to the Vatican, to the Colosseum, and then to dinner by the Pantheon), the hotel itself did not live up to expectations. Our bathroom smelled absolutely horrendous, with the gaseous smell leaking into the living space. Each day housekeeping would leave the window and bathroom door open upon our return, presumably to air out the space.

The safe is built into a freestanding wardrobe and the key for the safe itself must be requested at the front desk, which made my traveling partner very nervous, so we had to take extra precautions with our passports and valuables.

The room was unbearably cold on the first night, so when we requested that the temperature be raised on the second night, we were informed that from May-August the A/C settings are either ON or OFF (heat was not an option). We opted for OFF, though heat would have been nice given that the temperatures at night were in the low 50 degrees F.

The internet went out around 11:30PM one night and the person at the front desk did not know how to fix it. We had to wait until the morning desk clerk arrived around 8AM. While this was an annoyance for us, we encountered some business travelers the following morning who were furious that they were unable to get some of their work done.

The bed was among the firmest I've ever slept on. My back was in knots and was completely out of alignment after sleeping on it.

The front desk clerks were friendly and fairly helpful otherwise. I would stay here if you're looking for location and a good value, but don't expect a relaxing/luxurious experience.

This was my first visit to Rome and this hotel could not have been better located! Within walking distance to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, round the corner from the palazzo Venezia and 10 minutes from the Colosseum. The only place out of walking distance was the Vatican. The hotel façade does not face the main street so it was quiet and pleasant. The bar and restaurant were nice. The staff was friendly. The lobby was welcoming. The rooms were a little outdated; but clean and adequate. Tip: use your room key to power lights and door. Another tip--map out the metro because the entrances are not easy to find. The closest is across from the Colosseum and this is how we traveled to the Vatican. Would definitely recommend this hotel, as long as you are not looking for above average/luxury rooms. Extra blankets/pillow in wardrobe. I would stay there again especially due to the perfect location! The staff arranged a taxi for us to travel to the airport and we did learn this was the best rate to negotiate. All-in-all a good experience!

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel, and we have not been disappointed. Centrally located a 5 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain, round the corner from the palazzo Venezia and 10 minutes from the Colosseum it is a great base for a city break in Rome. The rooms were clean and comfortable, we did not eat in the hotel, but had drinks in the bar every night, before we went out to eat. The staff were great very friendly and helpful, we could not fault the service, in particular Marco in the bar was great and had a real sense of humour. Would definitely recommend and will go again.

My Wife and I spent a weekend at the end of January at this hotel. as others have said, its location is perfect. our experience was probably slightly different from others because the room rates in January are a third of the summer prices, which made us feel we were really getting value for money. the room was very pleasant and clean (standard). internally facing, so no noise. the staff were exceptionally pleasant and the breakfast good but, not what I would call 4 star. we have already recommended this hotel to friends. Around the corner try L'Antica Birreria Peroni, I know it is filled with locals but, surely that is the point of visiting Rome, the beer is good and the fare is reasonably priced, the atmosphere can be raucous, I loved it.

There were three massive benefits to this hotel...
Firstly - the location. It's central and very easy to get to many of Rome's major attractions by foot.
Secondly - the staff. They were all polite, helpful and fantastic (which is more than I can say about the general population in the city). In particular Francesco in the restaurant was great and he took the time out to research and recommend some pretty good red wines!
Thirdly - the view from the roof. Some spectacular photos can be taken across the rooftops of Rome.

The rooms are a little plain and ours didn't have a balcony but otherwise I found this to be a great place to say in Rome. Would certainly return. Decent value for money. Great food in the restaurant.

Room Tip: Rooms over the street will be noisy. Rooms not over the street don't provide much of a view!
