“Fantastic Location and Large Bathroom”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

Three of us stayed at the Cosmopolita Hotel for the first four nights of our two week stay in Italy and it was a great hotel!

Location can't be beat! Short walk to Roman Forum and Colosseum, short walk the other way to Trevi Fountain and Colosseum. The hotel itself was on a quiet street and our room overlooked a central courtyard. Easy walk to sights, restaurants, ATMs, taxi stand, etc.

Our room had a normal bed shared by two plus a twin bed for the third person in our group. All beds were hard as a rock with thin pillows. Seems pretty standard for European hotels though. Decor nothing special, but nice enough. Bathroom was huge though! Plenty of room around the toilet, shelf space for toiletries, large bathtub (though it could use a shower curtain). Bathroom always clean.

Roof-top restaurant full of large groups, so we never got to eat there. Breakfast was pretty standard, but tasty: croissants, runny eggs, meat and cheese, breads, yogurt, fruit cocktail, delicious blood orange juice.

Front desk staff always friendly and helpful. Elevator typically slow and small.

Things I liked:
Clean room
Nice bathroom
Great views
Great location
Nice breakfast
Friendly restaurant staff
Fairly good value for price and location

Things I didn't like
Noisy bar across the street with crowds in streets until 3:00 am
Wireless only available in lobby
Fairly expensive Internet.
Slow elevator...better off taking stairs.
Don't buy the hop / hop off bus pass. Not worth it.
We asked the concierge for a nice restaurant. He suggested HiRez and it was not that great.

we paid almost 300 Euro for twin room, you would not believe how bad it was - one bed after another like a train, width of the room 1,5 meter, facing the wall and noisy air-ventilation pipes, basically a corridor turned into room. unbelievable.
there is no wi-fi in the room, only in the lobby but not very good quality and for EXTRA PAY!
breakfast is rather boring, very small selection, often running out of bread etc
good things about hotel - great location and funny nice reception staff.

I Recommended this hotel for a mid week break to celebrate a friends birthday, I had stayed here two years ago. We really enjoyed it, the rooms are clean, spacious and sound proofed which is really good as it is in such a central location. The guy on the desk we think his name was Simone was very helpful and entertaining, he missed his calling he should have been a comedian, he was so very funny, teasing us with a very straight face! the complimentary breakfast was excellent a lot of choice and really good quality.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.

We went to Rome in July for our daughter's18th birthday and stayed 3 nights at the Cosmopolita Hotel. I emailed the hotel beforehand and they arranged a taxi transfer from the airport. Check in was efficient and friendly. We had 2 superior rooms and they were of a good size with a very traditional feel and a nice view across Rome. The only downside was that the walls were very thin and I could hear the man next door snoring!!! We were happy with breakfast; there was plenty of choice and we ate lots of custard filled croissants. The location of the hotel is perfect for all of the main tourist attractions - we were given a map on our arrival - and we were able to walk everywhere.

My rating for this hotel is based on its value for money and the actual features, cleanliness and service compared to its write up on its website and Hotels.com

I had Pre-paid and ordered a superior room with a view of the road. We arrived and checked in to find a small room facing a small closed off courtyard, no bath, no wifi. I complained at reception and Danilo told me this was all ready an upgrade from a standard room (this was no upgrade, and my receipt said superior room booking with view of Via IV Novembre). We were moved to a similar room with the view of the road, however only Suits have a bathtub, and rooms do not get access to wifi we found out. The room was decorated well, however it was dirty. Dust everywhere, dirty floor, dirty shower, shower doors wouldn't close so flooded the bathroom each use! And the toilet area had enough space for someone with small shoulders only. See photos. The mini fridge had expensive items such as €3 for a small bottle of water! The TV was full of places to charge extra, but eventually I found normal TV, and the aircon was either freezing or off. The staff were in the main were very friendly and helpful, however having paid €400 for 3 nights in a 4 star hotel with such good reviews I was expecting more. I was also disappointed with no wifi considering I had filtered for wifi in my hotel search on hotels.com. When you filter for wifi surely you should get free wifi in your room options only? Very poor by hotels.com. The hotel had wifi in reception at €3 per hour. Again when I was all ready paying so much, therefore I expected better!

The location was brilliant, it was pretty central to everywhere and we walked to all the major sites easily. It was also pretty quiet even on the main road side.

Breakfast was what you would expect, it covered all the basics from a hot option, fruits, yogurts, breads, pastries, drinks etc, and the service staff were very friendly.

I would not recommend this hotel on the basis that it was dirty, and we did not get what we had paid for and expected. I'm confident there are many more hotels in the area of better value and quality.
