Put Sofia on your list of places for dinner when you are near the Piazza di Spagna ... or maybe even when you are not even close. It's run by a young couple who clearly care about their guests and who provide a modest, but near perfect meal. There's nothing fancy here except for people who apparently love what the do, work hard, with gently prepared dishes that surprised us in these understated surroundings. And then there is the most perfect focaccia on the planet. It was the least expensive meal over 5 nights in Rome and was clearly the most pleasant and best value. Guess you can tell, we liked it. We look for every little imperfection and would still be looking for one if we didn't have to leave Rome for home.

Sophia restaurants is very welcoming and great looking.
The menu includes all kinds of pasta so as a great Rissoto And Romanian Italian dishes with a modern twist. The portions are not too big but the taste is great. So if you look for a nice restaurant for lunch you should defiantly check it out.

We stumbled across Sofias quite by accident whilst exploring the streets near the Spanish Steps and we're so happy we did. The lady who first served us spoke great English and showed us to a table on the street - we requested we'd like to dine outdoors.

The service was superb. The food fantastic. I started with a 'Beef carpaccio with citrus fruits and berries' my girlfriend had 'Red Tuna tartare with cucumber and chives' and we both had the 'Strozzapreti all'Amatriciana of cherry tomatoes' for mains (yes they kindly have English language menus). I wanted a glass of red to accompany the meal and one of the waiters was clued up enough to pick a perfect match. He also let me try first so if I hadn't liked it I could have selected a different wine.

It was our last meal in Rome and forms part of our fond memories of our trip to Italy.

This restaurant was one of the best dining experiences we had in Italy!
The service, atmosphere and most importantly the food, was excellent. My husband had stuffed squid and it was delicious! I had the citrus risotto, it was also excellent. The tiramisu was creamy and flavourful and the wine they recommended was great!
The staff was gracious and cared a lot about their service.
This a great, non-touristy restaurant in Rome!

Primi piatti
Sweet red pepper with green pepper and a liquid cheese sauce, sauce had some salmon taste which was very nice.

Secundi piatti

Squid roasted with inside a puree in combination with rucola and some strawberries...the fruit for me gives the dish no extra dimension rather sweet pepper of white tartufo should match for me

Very tastefull white wine, recommended!

Dessert

Crème brulée

After all, nice and romantic restaurant with a friendly end helpfull hostess, this all in a quiet surrounding, price a little bit to high for wat is being served, that's my opinion ;-),
