“Amazing for the price”
Reviewed December 3, 2011

Rooms were clean and gorgeous ! I loved it. Bright and colorful. Great amenities. The price was amazing for everything we got. The breakfast was delicious and a great variety. Me and my three girlfriends went here and we enjoyed ever second of it ! We loved drinking coffee on the beautiful rooftop terrace! This hotel is relaxing, not for the partying type.

Room Tip: I shared with three other girls and it was fine room wise. It was nice having our own bathroom.

I had an excellent experience with Hotel Colors. Very clean rooms, along with towels, linen, and a bright atmostphere make this palce a comfortable place to stay for a couple of days at a reasonable price...for Rome.
Where my difficulty with this place comes in is when you start talking about it as a hostel. It is obvious that this Hotel has converted some of its larger (and smaller) rooms into dorm-style accomodations in order to drum up some business. This is fine, and the rooms are both bright and large enough (mostly) to accomodate this idea, but they have yet to buy into the rest of the hostel vibe, which can be difficult. There is no secure storage space in this "hostel" except for the one safe in each room, the hotel kind with the changable code. That is great if you are by yourself and you get there first, but not so good if you are together with other people or don't get it first.
They also do not have luggage storage, and although they are nice enough to let you leave your luggage there, you leave it in the hall, and they do a poor job of monitoring it.
The breakfast is good for the price and you can eat as much as you want, which is nice when you are an all-day walker like I am.
All in all, this is a pretty good palce to stay, and in a pinch I would stay there again, but I would look for another place first I think.

Room Tip: Get a room with the ensuite. The price difference isn't taht much on the dorm end of things and...

This hotel was a great value, at only 144 euro for 3 nights for two people. It's REALLY clean and well kept. Breakfast includes yogurt, cereals, breads and pastries, and fruit and juice. Ours was a room with a shared bathroom, but even still we got a sink and a shower in the room. only the toilet was shared. Downside: bed was a little stiff, but not too bad. There's not elevator, so you have to lug all your stuff up to the 4th floor. It was a small room, but rooms are generally pretty small in Europe.
The area was pretty quiet and about 10 minutes walk from Piazza Cavour, where you can get lots of buses. Lots of locals around and a pretty major shopping street. But a bit removed from nightlife if you want to be a part of that.
Loved it!

The hotel is situated in really safe area of Rome, near to the Vatican City. You can come back late at night and you feel absolutely secure there (and the reception is open 24/24).
The room was charmful- colorous, clean, with small balcony.
And the breakfast is just awesome- wide range of sweet, salty and you can eat as much as you want!

It's the norm in Rome for people in the hospitality industry to be rude and unhelpful , but the staff at hotel colours have taken being rude, unhelpful, bad mannered , crass and everything nasty to new heights. I would avoid this place like the plague . The rooms are tidy but the horrible staff really make the experience bad.

The bright pictures may attract you. Although the reality is dull. I understand that rooms are often tiny in Rome hotels, but could not imagine it can be than tiny for three people. In addition the third bad was so terribly uncomfortable. It was not a normal bad even, but kind of a folding bad. And there was absolutely not enough space for three people in our room. Although we paid for a fully-featured room for three persons! They simply put this folding ban in a room for two! The hotel's manager always lied to us and ignored all our complaints. We booked this hotel through booking.com and had a print-out stating that the stay can be cancelled for free. The booking confirmation also indicated that the nights have different price. However this print-out was so unhelpful! All the terms and conditions were not stated in an explicit form. When we tried to leave this terrible hotel the manager claimed that we cannot do so as the credit card will be charged anyway for the full duration of stay. Also the manager claimed that all nights have similar price. According to the manager we had to suffer till the end. There was nothing I liked about this hotel, but can say that the breakfast was normal.

I really liked this hotel. First of all, it's CLEAN which just makes you feel good when checking into a room. Secondly, the decor if a bit Ikea-cheap is cheerful with brightly colored walls and furnishings as the name suggests. Third, the free breakfast is so good! The lady on breakfast duty will make you a freshly pulled espresso or cappuccino every morning and it is absolutely delicious (you know you're in Italy when you taste that first cup of coffee). There was a generous spread of bread, coldcuts, cheeses, pastries, fruit, yogurt, and juice. Rooms, at least the double private ones, are small but normal for Rome. The location is very close to the Vatican but also in a more residential neighborhood which I liked. Gracci, one of the best gelaterias in Rome is nearby too. The front desk was super helpful with everything and we stopped by at least three times a day for recommendations, reservations, directions, etc. I'd definitely stay here again.
