“A great choise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

Starting from the premisse that most hotels in Rome are expensive and old, choosing to stay at a Mercure is a safe choise. For one thing, they have a standard that you can count on anywhere in the world. That being said, this one wasn't different: spacious, clean room and private bathroom (with a bathtub), good and modern facilities, all in good conditions, free wifi all over the hotel, a bottle of free water (one still and other sparkling) everyday for you, butter cookies as a welcome gift and all the gear you need to make yourself tea and coffee (capuccino, hot chocolate and tea as well) in the room.
The staff was always helpful and friendly.
The breakfast offers you 2 choises: a italian one, for 8 euro, including cornettos (croissants) and juice, coffee and water, or a Continental, for 15 euro, with a selection of fruits, jellys and the option of omelets. I decided to take mine elsewhere, which was great and much cheaper.
But the best thing about this hotel, for me, is its location. It stands in the suburbs, in a very residencial area, so mind that you won't be staying near any attractions. For this matter, it's very quiet and you can experience a place where hardly any tourists venture. It's full of funky apartments, young people and small restaurants that burst into life come Friday and Saturday night.
The subway station (metropolitano) is a 10 minute walk away. So you're conected to everything, without being at the very heart of things.
The price is also great, when you compare it to hotels in central Rome.
I thought it was a great choice and I would definetely be back next time I come to Rome.

Compared to the other hotel we stayed in, this hotel was a bit better. Spacious, clean and we even had a balcony. Free wi-fi too. however, the AC took forever to start (not sure if this is a europe thing) and we had to wait about 15 minutes to feel the cool air. The good thing about this hotel is that it's located close to the subway. The bad is that there are no restaurants nearby other than McDonalds.

Nice hotel in quiet suburbs. Was about 10 mins on the underground from Termini Train Station then pleasant 10 mins walk, I guess the price per room is a lot cheaper than what you would pay for similar hotel in Central Rome. Would be a pain if you wanted to come back to hotel before going out again in evening, but was fine for us as we stayed out all day. Nice to escape the noise of central Rome. Very comfy beds, large bathroom, nice room, lovely breakfast and very friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again.

We arrived here in mid-August in the week of 'Ferragosta’ (15th) when numbers of shops and sites open the rest of the August are closed, so the neighbourhood was particularly quiet with very little traffic! The staff were friendly and accommodating when we arrived after long-haul flights, train to Tiburtina, 2 metros and walk from metro station, and we were able to check in immediately. Staff were also very helpful in providing information and suggestions about the area.
Our room was quiet, a good size, with comfortable beds. Free wifi worked well, and we enjoyed the complimentary water from the fridge. Breakfast in hotel is €15 for full buffet; €6 for juice, hot drink and croissant. The roof terrace is a great place for views and a drink on summer evenings.
The hotel is in a residential neighbourhood; quiet, safe to walk around, outside the tourist centres but not far away. (In the hot weather we found it no problem to return for a few hours' siesta.) Access to public transport is easy: approx 5 min walk to Metro B1 S. Agnese Annibaliano and to bus stops on Corso Trieste: eg Bus 38 from Termini ; several buses to Piazza Venezia (check: not all buses stop at each stop). Buy tickets for either transport from machines at Metro using coins or notes, or from tabacchi.
We have stayed in Rome several times before and would recommend this hotel for people who want to stay in a quiet residential area that's very comfortable to walk around in and away from tourist crowds.
