Perfect place for a visit to Rome

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 21, 2019
We booked this via Travelzoo for a long weekend at a very good price and we loved our stay. Yes, the room is small, but you really only need it to sleep in. The bed was comfy, the wardrobe large enough, the bathroom excellent with very good water pressure in the shower and lovely fresh towels. For an Italian Hotel, the breakfast was VERY good and the coffee outstanding. Also outstanding was the service attitude of the staff. Everyone was so lovely, helpful and super efficient.
Special mention should be made to the very attractive roof terrace, which overlooks St. Peter's. They play soft, classical music and you can just sit and enjoy. Slight downside, the bar was not open during our stay, which was a bit of a shame, but you can bring your own bottle of wine, so hey-ho...

I could not have picked a better location to stay. The location is fantastic, literally across the street from St Peters Square. It is accessible to all the major sights of Rome. The room was fine and clean, the Staff where all friendly. Like everywhere I have been some are friendly than others, but that is Human Nature. The breakfast was adequate and as English we had no problem with it being continental. Over all I thought all in all it was fantastic value for money.

This Hotel is over the road from St Peter's Piazza. Most of the staff are lovely, but one was cold and indifferent. The room was lovely, but the bed was old and not comfortable. The shower was awful and on one morning ran out of hot water quite quickly. The breakfast was good, but they only give tiny bowls for your cereal. The coffee was luke-warm - not great.

British Airways cancelled all flights to Italy due to heat and radar issues at London Heathrow. BA could not fly us into ANY city in Italy, even though I had planned this trip for my 84-year-old Italian mother for 7 months. I called the hotel and spoke to several people, including Maureena who told us they would not refund any of our money because they were holding the room for us. Dunh! We couldn't get there...we would have LOVED to have gotten to Rome and stayed in the room that was reserved for us. Talk about a money grab from this hotel who held absolutely no sympathy for the fact that BA could not fly us into Italy. We were told by the front desk to "extend our holiday" so we could come to Italy. Sorry, but we are working folks who couldn't extend our holiday. This is in the midst of tourist season when it would have been very easy for the hotel to secure other guests. Best wishes to you for getting double the room payment - from us who couldn't get to Italy, and from whomever you rented out the room to.

A former monastery, steps away from the Vatican. Great security and a beautiful terrace. Tasty breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon, pastries, etc. Clean and reasonably priced. Interior furnishings a bit dated and our room was small but sufficient. Would recommend.

Room tip: No tips. We stayed in Room 210. It was fine. Small but fine for our needs.

we booked a room here on recommendation of some people we know who frequent Rome often. I would start by saying that we arranged private transportation through hotel for our arrival into Rome which was well worth it. Driver had our name on a sign, took our luggage and got us to hotel with no issues or hassles. Much easier than Taxi for a nominal increase in cost. As people mentioned you are across the street from the Vatican, a must is to have small bites or drink on the terrace and see the views of St. Peters. We attended General Audience address and can say people started lining up around 7am across the street from hotel for 930 start, we went down around 745 and ended up 20 rows back. make sure and bring your own water as it was HOT and we only had 1 bottle. hotel is 1/4 mile from Ristorante La Vittoria which is a great authentic Italian place to eat. there are small grocer stores for additional water or soda a 5 minute walk from property and souvenir shopping is on the ground floor of property with some of best prices being a bit off of beaten path of where all the tour buses drop visitors. we walked to lunch on other side of Vatican with no problems and only took a taxi 1 day of a 4 day stay to visit Central market. everything you need is close by. rooms are very typical and smaller than US, but location and service of staff make up for everything
