If you are going to Rome and want the most beautiful, convenient hotel by St. Peter's Basilica, this is the place to be. Wonderful staff, accommodations and so very close to the seat of the Catholic church. When we go back to Rome, we will stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking the Piazza!

If you are focused on seeing the Vatican while in Rome, this is the perfect home base for you. Beat the security line for the Basilica before it winds all the way into St. Peter's Square by getting up and walking across the street in the morning. The restaurant has limited hours but their buffet breakfast is quite a spread. Snacks and drinks in the evening on the rooftop patio is a must! Watch the lights come on around St. Peter while having a glass of Prosecco. Days that the Pope makes an address and blessing from his apartment you can see and hear him from this same patio area. Beats having to stand in the square on a hot, sunny day. A little out of the way for other sight-seeing attractions in Rome. Our room was very clean and well kept. Staff was polite and helpful.

I like the breakfast offer with the accommodation each day we stayed. The view at the top is excellent & very convenient to the Vatican City landmarks.
You need to stay at least 5 days to visit each major sites in order to utilize your holiday time. The hotel is a great place as your home base. It s not too well publicized as yet. Priests & nuns stay there when there are important events at the Vatican City. The hotel is managed under the Vatican City as one of their property. Read the website more for details.

My husband and I spent two lovely nights at the hotel in early June 2013, and we agreed that it was our favorite hotel stay of our vacation in Italy. Firstly, the location is certainly right next to St. Peter's Basilica. It is a smallish hotel but well staffed, and the breakfast room is elegant (with a fabulous hot and cold buffet, with cappuccino on request) and excellent service. Our room overlooked a courtyard and was very quiet. The room had every amenity, very comfy king sized bed, and excellent quality linens. Did I mention that it was quiet? Definitely the best sleep we had the whole trip. Do go to the bar and have a drink overlooking the roof top terrace that overlooks St. Peter's. No, you may not walk out on the terrace, we were told that it is owned by the Vatican. Works for me, you may certainly look out on it and beyond, in fact we looked to the side and saw a nun (in habit) on the rooftop terrace on the building next door. Staff was all very pleasant and efficient. There was a problem with wifi in the hotel, which is not free, but was discounted because of the inconvenience of waiting for it to be fixed. Overall we felt the value received was great. One of the evenings we walked over the bridge to the "main" part of the city, and walked back - never felt unsafe, and enjoyed the exercise. Hotel couldn't be more convenient to St. Peter's, and is a reasonably short walk to the Vatican Museum Recommend highly, and if we get back to Rome, Paolo IV is where we want to stay.

Room Tip: Junior suites have views of St. Peter's, but if in a standard room ask for a quiet room overlooking the courtyard, then go to the bar for drinks and a view.

This hidden gem literally 100 feet from St. Peter's is incredible! The location is fantastic to explore all of Rome on foot. The multilingual front desk staff are very helpful and can help you to get tickets to Papal Masses as well as other Vatican events. The rooms are bright and very clean. The morning breakfasts are scrumptious and the terrace and bar take you above the rooftops to watch the sun set behind the dome of St. Peter's. Incredible!
