“Perfect home from home”
Reviewed March 21, 2013 via mobile

Booked after reading hundreds of reviews as feel hotel is an important factor!

We weren't disappointed at all.. Perfect location, two minutes stroll to Piazza del Popolo and then three straight roads directing you to the main attractions in Rome.. Making it hard to get lost and easy to find your way back to the hotel.

The nearby park was an added bonus and we enjoyed two lovely mornings here, one of which included cycling around in the sun.

Hotel is very clean, comfortable and friendly. Staff are all very helpful and more than accommodating.

Two highlights:
Breakfast... So much choice.. Coffee, pastries, cereal, meats, fruit, yogurt.. All fresh and set you up for a day exploring!
Happy hour! 6-10.. Half price drinks and free bar snacks which have the potential to turn into your dinner! Can highly recommend the piña colada!

Rooms are small as people have described but we didn't find this in any way an issue, more than big enough for sleeping and getting ready. Bathroom was also small but adequate although the shower is a bit tiny!

Loved our stay here, couldn't have asked for a better hotel or location - perfect.

One last recommendation is a private driver we found on tripadvisor; Alessandro and his Mercedes who picked us up at he airport and took us to the hotel showing us some sights along the way all for 60EUR. +39 328 6088148.. Highly recommended! :)

Wonderful little hotel in the perfect location to explore beautiful Rome. Our deluxe room was even better than the junior suite we were offered at a reduced rate. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Also very close to the metro. Make sure you make use of the happy hour as the cocktails were fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is a hidden gem!! It's a small boutique location that is just charming. It's in a great location - very convenient to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon, Piazza Navonna - and more - as well as the metro station. I loved that it had the old world charm with all the modern conveniences. Cant wait to go back!! I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.

Hi..
We stayed here in March 2013, and although as mentioned the rooms are small the Hotel makes up for that in many other ways..
Info.. Hair dryer and free safe in room..
The staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful, giving us a map of Rome and circling the hotspots of what we wanted to see. The beauty of this hotel is its position. Close to shops and within walking distance to :- The Vatican, Colosseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and The Spanish Steps, all within 30 minutes.
If you turn right out of the Hotel and cross over the Main road you will end up in the Square which has 3 roads leading off it... Take the right one for The Vatican, Middle for the Colosseum and the left for The Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain..
In the Hotel the Breakfast is very good, serves hot and cold food, (eggs and Bacon also) Hams and Cheeses and loved the Pastries!!
In the evening Happy Hour is from 6pm till 10, with everything at half price (except Coffee and Champagne) Large glass of Becs at 2.5euro, large Brandy 3euro instead of 6.. The best part is, food from the bar is free whilst your Drinking. Food was sandwiches, Vol Au Vents, Crisps, Nuts, Bruschetta etc..... Really is a Bargain..

If you get a Taxi from the Airport the cost will be approx 50+ Euro, but we used a private hire firm, google- Rome Shuttle Limousine, our cost was 43 euro for the four of us...

Would certainly go back there, and you don't have to eat out...

Hotel River Palace is a very nice hotel at Piazza del Popolo... Near the historic center of Rome! The location is excellent... The metro station Flaminio is near the corner! Very safe and quite location but at the same time so close to the city center... You can walk and go anywhere by foot! The service of the hotel is excellent! The receptionists are very helpful and very polite! The breakfast is very good, with various plates... The rooms are very small and the bathroom is for tiny people! In the shower cabinet you cannot move or turn! This is something negative! The price of the hotel parking is also expensive. We had to pay 30€ per night to park our car in the hotel garage! :-( The hotel service offers every afternoon small chocolates with next day's weather forecast! Very gentle and smart gesture! I will definitely stay at the same hotel next time I will come to Rome but I will ask for a bigger room and bathroom!

Stayed from March 12th - 15th. Stayed in a junior suite room 109 which was everything we could have hoped for. The staff at reception, bar, breakfast were friendly and helpful, nothing was to much. Would recommend this hotel, and will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: If you can choose a deluxe or better.

I have to agree with all the positive comments in the previous reviews about this hotel, the service and quality of the breakfast and the "happy hour" made for a pleasant stay.
But the size of the rooms are much too small averaging between 10 to 12 sq metres, you will bang your shins or elbows on something. my partner and myself are both on the small side and getting ready in the morning and then on the evening meant one of us standing on the bed most of the time as there is not room for 2 to get ready at the same time, there is a small chair in our room which had to be moved onto the bed whenever you wanted to get to the small wardrobe or the safe, there is nowhere to put your suitcases out of the way either.
Talking of small sizes the shower has a corner opening door which can only be accessed by going in sideways in you are of a larger size than me you will struggle to get in it. To access your rooms you have to take an lift up a level and then around 2 corridors to the main lift which is will only take 2 people with luggage or 4 people very close together, this lift was broken again on our last but one day her and meant climbing to the 8th floor and back on 3 occasion's, this is when the friendly staff are not so nice, no apologies from 3 different members of staff because of this, just said the lift engineers had been called, "its out of our hands". I would have hated being stuck in that lift for so long, do not stay at this Hotel if you are even slightly claustrophobic or of a larger size. Its not centrally located as stated in a previous review but you can access the main tourist stops if you like walking which we did in the rain, hail and thunderstorm which Rome greeted us with our first 2 days there, but still had a lovely time there and even managed to see the final black smoke before the new Pope was elected.

Room Tip: The standard rooms are tiny, the more expensive rooms are not much bigger, check the Hotels own webs...
