“Great value & location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2012

Our stay in Rome was great; a big part of this is based on us staying at the River Palace Hotel. The staff at the front desk bar and restaurant were great. The food was very good and we couldn't ask for a better location, in the middle of all the action but far away from the noise & traffic, great hotel. My only complaint (small one) was without shower & tub, not very practical, but who cares, we had a great time and we would recommend this hotel to other people. My only advice is NOT to use Appian Line for your Rome Tours. If the hotel is booking the tours, tell them that you would like a different tour operator.

Part of our honeymoon included two nights stay at the River Palace. From the moment we stepped through the door, we knew we had chosen the right hotel. We were welcomed and helped to our room immediately. Transportation and walking routes were explained to us to help us use our time most effectively. Breakfast was amazing! The rooms were clean and the entire staff was friendly. The location of the hotel is perfect - next to the Piazza del Popolo, and walking distance to several famous sights and wonderful restaurants. We took the metro to the Colosseum and did a walking tour ending at the Spanish Steps near the hotel. It was perfect. We will certainly return to the River Palace on our next trip to Rome.

We stayed here for 4 days for our mini-break in Rome and were very happy with everything. The hotel is in a great location for lots of the must-see spots and although the room and bathroom was very tiny we were hardly in there so it was not a problem - it did have everything we needed including a full length mirror and adjustable bathroom mirror so you can do the back of your hair (these things are so important to us ladies!). We appreciated the fruit basket and little chocs left on the pillow at night and they even left us a surprise bottle of wine for my birthday. The breakfast was very good served in a pleasant little dining room. The happy hour was a real perk so you can start the evening of with a superb cocktail at a great price for Rome. All in all this is a great base to explore this wonderful part of Italy.

Room Tip: You probably get what you pay for!

Just arrived home today from Rome and felt I had to post a review of this hotel. The hotel is beautiful and impeccably looked after. All staff were welcoming on arrival and pleasant and helpful during our stay. Choice at breakfast was wonderful as was the service. Hotel in good location, just cross into Piazza del Poppolo and straight down Via del Corso brings you to some of the best sights. Would highly recommend this hotel and would stay there if ever back in Rome.

This was our first trip to Rome and we loved this hotel. There was six of us travelling together and we spent 4 nights at this hotel (July 1-4) The River Palace is truely a Roman hotel. The location of this hotel is excellant, just north of Piazza del Popollo with the three main streets leading off towards the city. You can walk to most major sites.Trev Fountain and the Spanish Steps are about an easy 15 minute walk. The Vatican was approximately 30 minutes, but a very enjoyable walk. There is also an excellent casual restaurant (the Cafe de Popolo) half a block away. The food there is very good at a reasonable price. You won't be disapointed. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Rebecca and Tatiana on the front desk could not have been more helpful, and all the staff did everything they could to make your stay as pleasant as possible. All staff spoke to us any time we neened info on tours or directions. In the evenings the bar offers happy hour from 6-10 pm with half price drinks and a full range of complimentary nibbles and sandwiches. Free WIFI was a nice touch all through the hotel. We stayed in a Deluxe room(upgrade if you can) and it was absolutely spotless and decorated in a lovely classic italian Roman style. The breakfast was great with a large selection, fruit, cereals, pastries, yogurts, eggs, meats etc as well as teas, coffee and juices. Best of all,it was FREE! Again, thank you River Palace for a great stay in Rome.We would certainly come back here next time we visit the city, and will recommend to everyone looking for a great hotel in Rome!!

We spent quite a long time looking for a good place to stay in Rome. That spent time certainly paid off when we decided to use the River Palace Hotel.
We cruise a lot and this stay was only for one night but we were greeted and dealt with as though we were staying for a month. The attention was excellent and we were in our room in a very short while.
The position of this hotel is also excellent, away from the madding crowds but close enough to most sites to highly suitable. We had a little trouble deciding which restaurant to use because the choice was large and varied. We used a side street venue called Al Vantaggio and enjoyed wine, food and atmosphere.
The hotel offers a Happy Hour which in fact lasts for most of the evening. Many guests used it and conversation and beverage flowed.
The rooms, quite large for Rome, were good, clean, tidy and well equipped with all you really need and the bathroom toiletries were of a high standard. Plenty of towels and hot water.
Breakfast was exceptionally good for Rome and there was a wide selection, no one should go away hungry or unsatisfied.
The porterage was excellent and we were called when our car arrived and waved goodbye.
We will be back for a longer stay having found a gem where so much false jewellery exists.

This hotel was excellent all around. The internet worked in the room, the staff were helpful and their tips on where to shop were bang on. The breakfast was beyond excellent, the most selection we had seen and always being replenished. The rooms were clean and airconditioned.
